Miami arrest, UK charges

Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan were arrested in Miami on Saturday (18.07.2026), with the U.S. Marshals Service confirming the detention while saying the arrest warrant was sealed and it could not reveal the charges.

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said it decided to prosecute Andrew Tate, 39, on seven additional counts of rape, three counts of organizing or facilitating trafficking for the purpose of sexual exploitation, three counts of assault causing bodily harm, and 19 additional charges related to indecent images of a minor and extreme pornography.

The CPS also said it decided to prosecute Tristan, 38, on one count of sexual assault, two counts of rape, and three counts of conspiracy or trafficking facilitation for the purposes of sexual exploitation.

Authorities said the alleged crimes occurred between July 2010 and August 2017, and the British prosecution would seek extradition after the arrests.

The U.S. Marshals Service said the arrests were made in connection with the UK’s new charges, while the brothers denied all accusations.

CPS, police, and defense

Malcolm McHaffie, head of the Special Crime Division of the CPS, said, "We have decided to prosecute Andrew and Tristan Tate for further offences including rape, arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation and offences relating to indecent images of a child," linking the charging decisions to receipt of a further file of evidence from Bedfordshire Police.

Bedfordshire Assistant Chief Constable Karena Thomas said, "There is no place for male violence against women and girls, and we will continue to work tirelessly to support victims and investigate all reports made to us," as the case moved from UK charging to US custody.

The CPS said the latest charges bring the total number of alleged victims in the case to seven, while the brothers face 59 charges in total, with 42 against Andrew and 17 against Tristan.

Joseph McBride, the brothers’ attorney, said in a press release that his clients "are innocent," calling the new UK charges "filth and slander" intended to undermine defamation lawsuits in the United States.

Le Monde reported that the arrest warrant was sealed and that the US Marshals Service told AFP it was not able to disclose the charges, even as video showed officers placing the men in handcuffs.

Extradition and what’s at stake

After the arrests, the CPS said it had requested the extradition of the Tates from the US, and it described the process as aimed at bringing them before UK courts on the expanded set of charges.

The CPS statement said the charging decisions followed receipt of a further file of evidence from Bedfordshire Police and that the total number of alleged victims in the case was seven, while the alleged offenses were said to have occurred between July 2010 and August 2017.

The Palm Beach Post said the brothers also face prosecution in Romania and are named in multiple civil lawsuits connected to claims of sexual violence and trafficking, while the brothers deny the charges.

In parallel, DW reported that the UK authorities are seeking extradition over charges related to rape, trafficking, and aggression, and that the brothers had been fervent supporters of U.S. President Donald Trump.

La Vanguardia reported that the UK seeks extradition for a total of 59 charges, and it quoted Malcolm McHaffie saying the brothers were wanted in the UK for "violación, complicidad en explotación sexual y delitos relacionados con imágenes indecentes de un niño".
