British actor Anthony Head, known for playing Rupert Giles on “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and Rupert Mannion on “Ted Lasso,” has died at 72.

Head’s daughters, Emily and Daisy, said in a statement obtained by the BBC on Friday that it was “with heavy hearts that we announce the death of our extraordinary father,” and that he “passed away peacefully of complications due to pneumonia, surrounded by his family.”B

Following the news of his death, “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” co-stars posted tributes that highlighted Head’s presence on set and his character work across the show’s run.

The BBC also reported that the official Doctor Who account on X said it was “very sad to report the passing of Anthony Head,” adding that he appeared as Mr Finch in “School Reunion” in 2006.B
