Apple Releases macOS 27 Golden Gate With Siri AI and Liquid Glass Refinements

macOS 27 ships with Siri AI
Apple has released macOS 27 Golden Gate, alongside iOS 27, watchOS 27, visionOS 27, and tvOS 27, with Siri AI and Liquid Glass refinements as headline features. Ars Technica says Siri AI is a “large language model-based and context-aware overhaul” that can explain what’s on the screen and search the user’s past personal context and history like old emails and text messages.
9to5Mac reports that after months of beta testing, macOS 27 Golden Gate is now rolling out to everyone, bringing Apple’s new Siri AI, deeper Liquid Glass refinements, major Safari additions, and performance and quality-of-life improvements. The same Ars Technica report describes the on-device models that drive Siri AI, including “AFM 3 Core with 3 billion parameters,” and an “AFM 3 Core Advanced, a 20-billion-parameter model” that uses a sparse architecture activating “just 1 to 4 billion parameters at a time.”
Liquid Glass and interface changes
Across the release, Apple adds a Liquid Glass slider that lets users customize transparency, with 9to5Mac describing “a new Liquid Glass slider” to choose how transparent or opaque the effect should be. 9to5Mac also says the Liquid Glass appearance setting includes an easter egg featuring “Clarus the Dogcow,” which appears when you scroll the demo pane all the way down and then keep going.
Ars Technica adds that “users now have a slider to affect how transparent or opaque the ‘Liquid Glass’ design is across the operating system,” and frames the rest of the changes as design tweaks aimed at user feedback since Liquid Glass was introduced. Ars Technica further reports that on the macOS side Apple made “numerous small design tweaks to address user feedback,” while characterizing the overall design as “a much-needed polish pass.”
Security fixes and upgrade pressure
While Golden Gate adds new AI and interface features, iOSMac highlights that Apple also released security updates for macOS 27 Golden Gate, macOS Tahoe 26.7, and macOS Sequoia 15.8 that “fix more than 200 vulnerabilities” that could put users’ security at risk. iOSMac says the fixes include flaws “related to the kernel, code execution, access to private information, and protection mechanisms like Gatekeeper,” and notes that some vulnerabilities could allow malicious applications to execute arbitrary code with kernel or root privileges.
The same iOSMac report emphasizes that users who have not yet upgraded are not left out, because macOS Tahoe 26.7 and macOS Sequoia 15.8 include many of the same fixes including mitigations for kernel-related vulnerabilities, root privileges, sandbox escapes, Gatekeeper mechanisms, and remote code execution. In parallel, Ars Technica frames the Golden Gate release as a major OS update that includes Siri AI across the platform lineup, stating Apple “has today released 2026’s major annual updates for its operating systems, including iOS 27, macOS 27 Golden Gate” and others.
