GV90 Debuts in San Francisco
Genesis unveiled the all-electric GV90, its first full-size flagship SUV, at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco on August 19.

The GV90 pairs a 123.5-kWh high-voltage battery with a dual-motor setup rated at up to 657 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque, and Genesis estimates approximately 310 miles of range on a single charge based on internal R&D testing.

Fast charging is a central part of the pitch: when connected to a 350-kW DC fast charger, the GV90 can recharge from 10% to 80% in about 22 minutes.
Genesis says the SUV is built on its dedicated eMP (Electric Mobility Prime) platform for flagship vehicles, and it uses a multi-chamber air suspension with electronically controlled dampers.
For steering and maneuvering, the GV90 adds active rear-wheel steering with the rear wheels able to turn by up to five degrees, which Genesis says can reduce the SUV’s turning radius to that of a midsize car.
Coach Doors and Roof Airbag
The GV90 Neolun variant brings coach-style doors to production with the “Neolun Arch Gate,” which Genesis describes as the world’s first independently opening and closing hidden B-pillar coach-door system.
Genesis says the design lets the rear doors first move outward before rotating open, so the doors can operate independently despite the hidden B-pillar structure.

Safety hardware is also emphasized, with the GV90 featuring 12 airbags, including what Genesis describes as the world’s first roof airbag.
During a severe rollover, Genesis says the roof airbag deploys across the roof glass to help prevent occupant ejection and reduce injuries caused by contact with the roof.
Genesis also says the cabin uses a concealed roll-cage structure and a battery design with Thermal Runaway Protection, while a cloud-based battery management system can monitor the battery in real time.
Luxury Tech and Platform Claims
Genesis positions the GV90’s interior as a luxury lounge, with a pop-up center OLED Cinematic Display and a 25-inch head-up display instead of an instrument cluster.

The GV90 Neolun takes the cabin concept further with motorized front seats that can rotate 180 degrees while the vehicle is parked, creating a face-to-face configuration intended for conversations or business meetings.
For infotainment, the GV90 uses Pleos Connect, described as an infotainment system launching across new Genesis, Kia, and Hyundai products, and it is based on Android Automotive.
Genesis also says the GV90 is its first Hyundai Motor Group vehicle to use dual Electronic Limited Slip Differentials (E-LSDs), distributing torque between the front and rear wheels according to driving conditions.
In a statement carried by USA TODAY, Euisun Chung said, “Technology alone does not create luxury, and design alone does not define luxury,” as the GV90 is expected to start around $100,000 and compete with other luxury electric SUVs.
