Germany adds six banks
Germany widened its lead in European Union MiCA authorizations after the European Securities and Markets Authority updated its MiCA register on Friday, bringing the number of authorized crypto asset service providers, or CASPs, to 331. The update added six German cooperative banks—Raiffeisenbank Aidlingen, Ihre Volksbank, VR-Bank Mittelfranken Mitte, Volksbank Euskirchen, VR Bank Ried-Überwald and Volksbank Backnang—raising Germany’s total to 79.
Germany’s MiCA count grew from 57 in late June, when the country already led MiCA authorizations, and it now stands ahead of France with 35 and the Netherlands with 29. BaFin told Cointelegraph in June that Germany’s high number of MiCA authorizations partly reflects the size of its financial sector and the number of credit institutions eligible to offer crypto services.

ESMA token registers unchanged
While ESMA’s MiCA register moved higher to 331 CASPs, its asset-referenced token (ART), electronic money token (EMT) and non-compliant entity datasets were unchanged. The ART register remained empty, the EMT register held 43 entries, and the non-compliant entity list remained at 167, according to the latest register update described by TradingView.
Crypto.news’ coverage in Crypto News | Other said the interim Markets in Crypto Assets register was updated on Friday and that the six newly added providers were all German cooperative banks. That same account also said Germany’s total has more than doubled since late June, when it had 57 licensed providers, and it described the overall European register as increasing by 87 from a prior snapshot.

What the lead means
The MiCA licensing expansion is framed as part of Germany’s competitive position in regulated crypto activity, with the latest update described as adding six banks to the roster and lifting Germany’s CASP total to 79. Crypto Briefing linked the regulatory progress in Germany to investor sentiment, writing that a supportive regulatory environment could influence investor confidence in the broader European crypto market.
Crypto News | Other also tied Germany’s lead to BaFin’s explanation that Germany had already established a domestic licensing framework before the transition to MiCA, allowing some firms to receive approval through simplified procedures. It further noted that MiCA introduced a common authorization system across EU member states and that once approved by a national competent authority, a CASP can use passporting rights after completing a required notification process, with transitional arrangements reaching their final deadline on July 1, 2026.
