Hana Bank’s $100M T+0
Hana Bank issued a $100 million five-year foreign-currency digital bond using Euroclear's blockchain infrastructure, and the deal achieved the first same-day settlement, or T+0, in South Korea's foreign-currency bond market.
Hana Bank processed the bond on Sept. 18 through D-FMI, a Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT)-based platform operated by Euroclear, and it completed issuance, registration, and settlement on the distributed ledger network.

Hana Bank said the transaction shortened settlement from the three to five business days typically required for conventional foreign-currency bonds to settlement on the issuance date itself.
Standard Chartered served as sole lead manager, overseeing the process from bond structuring to issuance and distribution, as Hana Bank described the initiative as integrating blockchain technology into capital markets.
How D-FMI connected
Euroclear's D-FMI platform handled issuance, registration and settlement of securities on a distributed ledger rather than through conventional systems, and it completed bond allocation and payment settlement on the day of issuance. Hana Bank linked the digital bond to Euroclear's existing global settlement network, and the bank said institutional investors could trade the bond through their existing Euroclear accounts and trading systems without building separate infrastructure.
Hana Bank used the same Global Medium-Term Note (GMTN) program documentation typically used for foreign-currency bond issuances, and the structure maintained compatibility with existing capital market infrastructure. A Hana Bank official framed the move as more than diversifying funding sources, saying, "This $100 million digital bond issuance and the implementation of T+0 same-day settlement is a highly meaningful initiative".

Regulatory and market stakes
South Korea's Financial Services Commission (FSC) set a February 2027 launch date for a full tokenized framework, and CoinDesk described Hana's $100 million bond as a live proof that Korean banks can plug into established global blockchain settlement infrastructure. The same CoinDesk coverage said Hana's bond replaced a multi-day settlement process with same-day settlement on a distributed ledger, and it described D-FMI as connecting to Euroclear's existing settlement network for secondary-market trading.
Seoul Economic Daily reported that Hana Bank issued through D-FMI and completed issuance and settlement within the day because bond allocation and fund transfers were processed instantly on the DLT. Hana Bank officials also tied the initiative to funding stability, with one official saying, "This digital bond issuance and the realization of 'T+0' settlement go beyond diversifying funding channels".
