Jizan Strike Claimed
Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi rebels claimed a missile attack on Saudi Arabia on Saturday, targeting the southern Saudi city of Jizan on the Red Sea after Riyadh struck Houthi targets on Friday.

Taipei Times reported that the strike sparked fires and that a video circulating on social media showed dark clouds rising above a refinery belonging to Saudi oil giant Saudi Aramco in Jizan.
Kurdistan24 said the Houthis’ Ansarollah media channel reported the missile strike ignited fires in Jizan after what it described as a "Yemeni missile attack."
Kurdistan24 also reported that precautionary alerts were issued by Saudi civil defense for residents in Jizan and the Red Sea city of Yanbu before the warnings were withdrawn minutes later.
Retaliation and Alerts
The Hill reported that Brig. Gen. Yahya Saree said the Houthis executed two military operations "in response to this blatant and criminal aggression" from Saudi Arabia.
In the same account, The Hill quoted Saree saying "The first targeted sensitive Aramco-affiliated facilities in Jizan with dozens of ballistic missiles and drones," and said the second operation targeted Aramco-affiliated facilities in Yanbu.
DW reported that Houthi rebels said Friday’s Saudi strikes on the port city of Hodeida hit civilian infrastructure, injuring two people, while Saudi Arabia said it would do everything necessary to protect its shipping amid a Houthi-enforced maritime blockade in the Red Sea.
NBC News said Brig. Gen. Yahya Saree told in a prerecorded statement that the attack targeted facilities of Aramco in the Red Sea cities of Yanbu and Jizan, and it added that the Kingdom’s civil defense said alerts sounded multiple times early Saturday in Yanbu and Jizan.
Shipping and Escalation Risk
Kurdistan24 reported that the Saudi-led coalition said its operation was "legitimate and proportional" and focused exclusively on military positions it said posed an immediate threat to international navigation, while adding that the Port of Hodeida itself had not been targeted and remained open to maritime traffic.

CBC reported that the Houthis’ attacks came as they said they would close the Bab el Mandeb strait to Saudi-linked shipping, and it noted that a tenuous ceasefire seemed to unravel early July.
The Hill said the Houthis’ actions against Saudi Arabia this week, including a maritime blockade and attacks on oil tankers, "threaten to further disrupt oil markets" and referenced Brent crude jumping to around $101 a barrel.
DW framed the flare-up as a risk that "could worsen the global economic fallout from the war," while also describing the Red Sea disruption as a widening regional consequence of the Iran-backed conflict.
