Hsin-Ju Chuang Dies At 37 After Hack VC Dispute, California Highway Patrol Responds

Chuang death after dispute
Hsin-Ju Chuang, a former partner at Hack VC, died at age 37, and the San Bernardino County coroner notice directed further questions about the incident to the California Highway Patrol.

California Highway Patrol officers responded to southbound Interstate 15 south of Field Road in Harvard at 9:47 p.m. on Aug. 24, and Chuang was pronounced dead at the scene.
Chuang had previously posted that she would publish evidence supporting allegations against her former employer on Aug. 26, but the evidence package she promised had not appeared in the public archives reviewed.
Hack VC’s official X account removed a post after Chuang died, and Hack VC said it removed its post after it noticed how people were talking about the incident in public.
Hack VC’s SEC-registered status remained in place, with SEC records identifying Hack VC Management, LLC as an SEC-registered investment adviser under file number 801-126321.
Pack says no details
Hack VC co-founder and managing partner Alexander Pack said the firm was “shocked and saddened” by Chuang’s death and offered condolences to her family, friends and others close to her.
Pack also said “We have no further information, and only wish to ask everyone to be respectful of those who are grieving,” while stating the firm had not spoken directly with Chuang for more than 10 months.
Hack VC told Protos the firm removed its earlier statement after seeing the tone of the public conversation become increasingly hostile.
Chuang published a lengthy X post on Aug. 23 rejecting a settlement requiring her silence and saying she would be releasing all the evidence from her time at Hack VC on Aug. 26.
Hack VC said its “understanding of events differs materially” from Chuang’s account in a post now removed from Hack VC’s X account.
Cause of death still open
Authorities have not publicly disclosed a cause of death, and the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner directed further questions to the California Highway Patrol. Authorities had not announced a cause of death, revealed the results of an autopsy, or provided further details about the circumstances. The San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office was awaiting autopsy results and investigators had not linked the death to Chuang’s dispute with Hack VC.
The notice does not give a cause of death, and none of the sources reviewed establishes that her death was caused by the employment dispute. Blockchain addresses Chuang posted publicly, including an Ethereum address and a Solana address under “Support here,” were publicly auditable but establishing a connection between an address and an actual individual or body requires additional evidence from outside of the blockchain.
