Kamal Adwan hit

An Israeli quadcopter drone attack injured hospital workers at Kamal Adwan Hospital in Beit Lahia, northern Gaza on Friday, with Gaza’s Health Ministry condemning the strike as part of continued violations of the ceasefire and a broader pattern of repeated assaults on Gaza’s health sector.

The Palestine Chronicle reported that the Palestinian Ministry of Health said the drone dropped an explosive device inside the hospital compound, wounding two staff members despite their presence in the designated green zone reserved for medical personnel.

Middle East Monitor said the drone strike wounded several Palestinians after hitting the courtyard of Kamal Adwan Hospital in Beit Lahiya, citing sources in Gaza’s emergency services, while Shafaq News reported that at least five Palestinians, including medical workers at Kamal Adwan Hospital, were wounded in Israeli drone and artillery attacks across the Gaza Strip.

The Middle East Monitor account said the attack came despite a ceasefire, and the Palestine Chronicle said the Health Ministry warned that continued targeting of hospitals and medical teams places both healthcare workers and patients at immediate risk.

Calls for protection

Gaza’s Health Ministry urged urgent international protection for medical facilities and health workers, saying the attack was part of Israel’s continued violations of the ceasefire agreement and endangers the lives of workers and patients.

In a statement carried by Middle East Monitor, the Health Ministry warned that "The continued systematic attacks on health facilities and medical teams endanger the lives of workers and patients and undermine the health system’s ability to provide lifesaving services," and it urged the UN and humanitarian organizations to provide urgent protection.

The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk said in a statement that "the only sanctuary where Palestinians should have felt safe has indeed become a deadly trap," describing Gaza’s hospitals as facing grave concerns under international law.

The UN report described systematic Israeli attacks on Gaza’s hospitals as raising concerns about war crimes and said the destruction of Gaza’s health system has pushed it "on the brink of total collapse" due to incessant attacks since the start of the war in October 2023.

System at breaking point

The Palestine Chronicle said Gaza’s Government Media Office reported that Israeli occupation forces have destroyed 34 of the Strip’s 38 hospitals since the start of the war in October 2023, leaving only four hospitals operational with severely limited capacity.

Shafaq News reported that since the ceasefire took effect on Oct. 11, 2025, Israeli strikes have killed 1,094 Palestinians and injured 3,507 others, while the Gaza-run Health Ministry said the overall toll since the war began on Oct. 7, 2023, reached 73,120 dead and 173,615 wounded.

The WHO said Kamal Adwan Hospital is out of service after being targeted by a raid and multiple attacks since October, warning that the siege and dismantling of the health system are putting the lives of the 75,000 Palestinians who remain in northern Gaza at risk.

The WHO added that the raid left parts of the hospital set on fire and severely damaged, and it said the 15 critical patients remaining, along with 50 caregivers and 20 health workers, were transferred to the Indonesian Hospital, which it said lacks the equipment and supplies needed to provide adequate care.
