Majdal Zoun strike kills
An Israeli strike on Majdel Zoun in southern Lebanon left five dead, including three Civil Defense members, according to L'Orient-Le Jour’s live update on April 28, 2026.
L'Orient-Le Jour said the Health Ministry reported that the strike in the Tyre district left five dead, including three Civil Defense rescuers trapped under the rubble after being targeted during a rescue mission.

The same update said the strike also wounded two Lebanese Army soldiers, and it described the two other victims as civilians including a bulldozer operator.
In parallel, Al-Manar TV Lebanon said an Israeli enemy army carried out bombings in the town of Majdal Zoun in southern Lebanon, and it also reported an Israeli glider dropped an incendiary bomb on the outskirts of the town of Kfar Rumman, South Lebanon.
Lebanese leaders denounce
Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam denounced the Israeli attack on Majdel Zoun that killed three Civil Defense members while they were carrying out their humanitarian duty, and L'Orient-Le Jour quoted him saying it "constitutes a new war crime characterized as committed by Israel."
L'Orient-Le Jour also reported that Lebanese Interior Minister Ahmad Hajjar condemned the attack, stating it "directly struck three rescuers while they were carrying out a humanitarian mission."

The update further said Lebanese President Joseph Aoun condemned the attack as adding to a series of assaults targeting rescue personnel, and it quoted the presidency statement on X.
In a separate account, Idha'ah Hasna said the Israeli occupation forces launched air strikes on areas in southern Lebanon early Thursday and targeted Wadi Burghaz and the town of al-Shahabiyeh in southern Lebanon.
Ceasefire, evacuations, and talks
Idha'ah Hasna said the memorandum of understanding between Lebanon and the Israeli occupation state continues to be observed while the Israeli army’s violations of the ceasefire in Lebanon persist, and it described an atmosphere around the fifth round of negotiations in Washington that concluded after a session lasting about eight hours.
“Lebanon's official media reported that Israel carried out on Saturday a series of airstrikes on southern Lebanon after its army issued an evacuation warning to residents of twenty towns, including the city of Nabatieh”
The same source said media outlets reported information about an attempted Israeli ground advance toward Majdal Zoun under dense shelling, the first since the ceasefire was announced on April 16, with attempts to advance toward some neighborhoods from the directions of Wadi Hassan and Tir Harfa.
Al-Riyadh Jarida reported that the Israeli army issued an evacuation warning to residents of twenty towns, including the city of Nabatieh, and it said the Israeli army’s spokesperson for Arab media, Avichay Adra’i, posted on X an “urgent warning” to residents of twenty villages and towns to evacuate and head toward the northern part of the Zahrani area.
Al-Watan said Iran called on Israel to withdraw from Lebanon as part of the agreement Tehran reached with the United States, and it quoted Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi saying, “The end of the war will not be complete without Israeli forces withdrawing from the territories they occupied during this war.”
