Apartment strike in Remal
An Israeli air attack hit the al-Asala building in the Remal neighbourhood of western Gaza City early on Saturday, killing at least five people and severely wounding at least six others, according to medical staff at al-Shifa Hospital. Hani al-Shaer said the strike came without prior warning, and he described hearing “fighter jets getting louder, then three strikes followed, hitting the apartment and killing those inside,” as residents were asleep.
Al-Shifa Hospital said the dead included four women, among them an elderly Christian woman and her daughter, and the six wounded were taken to al-Shifa Hospital for treatment. Palestinian Civil Defence crews extinguished fires that burned for at least an hour after the strike, while rescue teams continued searching the site for missing people and bodies as Israeli drones flew overhead and fighter jets were heard low across the Strip.

Names, women, and injuries
Medical sources told Al Jazeera that five Palestinians were martyred and others were injured in an Israeli bombardment that targeted a residential apartment in western Gaza City at dawn on Saturday. The reporting identified the five dead as Maysa Abu Daoud (55), her daughter Maria Abu Daoud (36), Yasmin al-Bobo (48), Hiloum al-Bobo (23), and the young man Bilal Ali Awwda (20).
An official at the Shifa Medical Complex said, “Five people arrived at the hospital at dawn today dead and several were injured with varying degrees of wounds as a result of the Israeli airstrike that targeted an apartment in the Al-Asalah Building in the Al-Rimal neighborhood.” Civil Defense spokesperson Mahmoud Basal confirmed the transfer of “five dead and several injuries” and said there was “significant destruction to the targeted apartment as it was hit directly by two missiles and a fire broke out.”

Ceasefire violations and siege
Israeli airstrikes and demolitions continued across Gaza City and beyond, with Palestinian media saying Israeli occupation planes carried out a series of air strikes west of Gaza City while Israeli forces carried out demolition operations in the Al-Tuffah neighborhood east of the city. The reporting said the attacks came “as part of daily Israeli violations of the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip in effect since October 10, 2025,” and it cited Gaza Strip Health Ministry figures of 1,439 Palestinians martyred and 5,052 injured up to last Thursday.
The World Health Organization said Israeli authorities prevent the entry of medical supplies and radiology equipment into the Gaza Strip without any official justification, and it warned that “the growing Israeli restrictions on medicines and medical equipment entering Gaza undermine claims of easing measures.” The same reporting added that the UN agency said current aid is not enough to meet the needs of Gaza families and stressed that medicines are of utmost priority and must be brought in immediately.
