JQQQ on Stellar
Janus Henderson and Centrifuge launched JQQQ, a blockchain-based fund tracking the Nasdaq-100 Index on Stellar, under a licensing agreement with the exchange. The fund uses Centrifuge’s tokenization infrastructure and targets eligible professional investors outside the United States, with the Wall Street Journal reporting a minimum investment of $100,000.
Janus Henderson structured JQQQ as a segregated portfolio of a British Virgin Islands investment company that provides indirect exposure to the Nasdaq-100 rather than ownership of the underlying stocks. Janus Henderson said its institutional onchain strategies now exceed $1 billion, as the launch expands its onchain offerings beyond US Treasurys and structured credit into equity-index exposure.
Index licensing and roles
Nasdaq Global Indexes licenses the Nasdaq-100 Index for JQQQ, while Janus Henderson runs the fund, according to Dealroom’s description of the product. Unchained said the release places JQQQ inside Anemoy Capital SPC Limited, a segregated portfolio company registered in the British Virgin Islands, with Anemoy Asset Management Limited as the investment manager and Janus Henderson Investors US LLC as sub-investment manager.
Unchained reported that Centrifuge provides the technology used to issue and operate the fund onchain, while Nasdaq licenses the index. Unchained also said the release described JQQQ as designed to be issued and run on blockchain rails, with the partners saying its shares could plug into other onchain applications and feed into programmable portfolios.
Stellar expansion and limits
Stellar’s tokenization footprint is expanding alongside the JQQQ launch, with TradingView citing approximately $3.8 billion in tokenized assets and naming Ethereum, BNB Chain and Solana as ahead of Stellar by distributed real-world asset value. TradingView said tokenization platform Tradable announced plans to bring up to $1 billion in private credit assets to Stellar, with $500 million expected at launch.
TradingView reported that DTCC-tokenized assets are expected to become available in the first half of 2027, potentially including US Treasurys, major index ETFs and Russell 1000 stocks. Unchained said the release described JQQQ as not available to U.S. persons and open only to eligible investors in jurisdictions where it can lawfully be offered and marketed, while also stating the release gave no fee rate and did not list a minimum investment, a custodian, or a date when the fund begins taking subscriptions.
