Mastercard and BVNK unite

Mastercard and BVNK launched the Mastercard Global Money Platform, combining Mastercard’s payments network and BVNK’s stablecoin infrastructure through a single application programming interface (API). Mastercard said the platform brings together multi-currency accounts, real-time currency conversion, stablecoin-linked payment cards, and local bank payouts into products that banks, fintech firms, and businesses can offer through one integration. Mastercard said its Move payment network reaches more than 17 billion endpoints, and the platform is expected to expand to more than 40 currencies across over 200 countries and territories in 2027.

Mastercard said card issuance is available in more than 130 countries, and Nuvei and Marqeta are among the first businesses expected to integrate the platform alongside Ontop, Beem, and Almond FinTech. BVNK co-founder and chief business officer Chris Harmse said, "With Global Money Platform, we’re delivering on our promise to connect BVNK’s technology with the scale and trust of Mastercard," as the companies positioned the launch as their first major integration since Mastercard completed its acquisition of BVNK in August 2026.

Fiat and stablecoins in one

Mastercard said the Global Money Platform lets businesses hold and convert fiat currencies and stablecoins, offer stablecoin-linked cards, and make payments directly from stablecoin balances into recipients’ local bank accounts. Mastercard said the service connects to Mastercard Move, which can route payments to more than 17 billion destinations, including bank accounts and cards, and it connects stablecoin balances to Mastercard’s merchant network so customers can spend them with payment cards. Nuvei and Marqeta were described as among the first integration partners, and the platform was framed as extending Mastercard’s role beyond processing payments to providing infrastructure that financial companies can use under their own brands.

Phil Fayer, chair and CEO of Nuvei, said, "The future of global commerce depends on money moving as freely as the businesses and consumers it serves, across borders, currencies and increasingly, between traditional and digital forms of money," in a statement tied to the launch. Chris Harmse said the platform would become "the single infrastructure layer not just for stablecoins, but for every form of money," as Mastercard and BVNK described a modular toolkit for send, receive, convert, store, spend and earn.

Visa also moves toward stablecoins

Visa Inc. said its Visa Direct faster-payments platform is launching a commercial service that will incorporate stablecoins, as Mastercard and BVNK announced their Global Money Platform. The Digital Transactions source said Visa signed up Inyo Global, based in Cambridge, Mass., and described Inyo Global as offering technology that brings cards, cross-border transfers, and stablecoin capability into a single application programming interface. The same source said a connection to Inyo’s platform allows businesses to sign up users, accept payments, control fraud, and send domestic and international payouts to more than 180 countries through Visa Direct.

Vira Platonova, global head of Visa Direct, said, "The next chapter for stablecoins is adoption," and she added that efforts were translating into live implementations that help businesses access "more flexible and efficient ways to fund and move money globally through Visa Direct." Robson Dantas, chief product and technology officer at Inyo Global, said in a statement the venture with Visa will give clients "a new way to fund their payouts, one that is available around the clock," while the source said costs for the new service were not immediately available.
