El-Obeid drone front
Military sources told Anadolu that the Sudanese army and allied forces repelled an attack by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on Jabal Hashaba and Umm Arda southwest of El-Obeid, the capital of North Kordofan state, on Friday morning.

Anadolu reported that the sources claimed the RSF suffered losses in personnel and equipment but provided no figures, and that members of the army and allied Joint Forces published videos from Jabal Hashaba and Umm Arda showing their control after thwarting the attack.
Al-Jazeera Net said the Sudanese army repelled an attack launched by the RSF on Jebel Hashaba and Umm Arda south-west of El Obeid, and noted that as of the time of writing the RSF had not commented on what military sources stated.
Al-Jazeera Net also placed the episode amid escalated fighting in Kordofan and Darfur and the Blue Nile state, saying clashes between the army and the RSF have continued in the three Kordofan states since October 2025 and that the war since April 2023 has resulted in tens of thousands of deaths and about 13 million displaced people.
Anadolu added that the developments came a day after the army announced it had repelled an RSF attack on the Jabra Sheikh area in North Kordofan, claiming heavy losses in lives and equipment on the RSF.
Drones over Khartoum
On Wednesday, multiple outlets described suspected or reported drone attacks across Sudan, including the capital Khartoum and North Kordofan’s El Obeid, with residents reporting explosions shortly after dawn.
The National said drones suspected to have been launched by Sudan's paramilitary Rapid Support Forces hit three cities including Khartoum, and that media reports it could not immediately confirm said at least two people were killed and six injured when the drones struck Al Obeid.
Al-Jazeera Net reported that the Sudanese army’s ground defenses shot down more than 40 hovering attack drones belonging to the RSF, targeting Omdurman, Bahri, Khartoum, Atbara, El Obeid, and El Damira.
Al-Jazeera Net also said a medical source confirmed two deaths and six injuries due to drone shelling of Al-Ubayyid, and described the city as facing drone strikes and siege tactics that drained electricity, fuel, food, and water supplies.
El Confidencial said the RSF carried out this Wednesday a drone attack on Khartoum and reported that at least 17 people, including women and children, have died in the state of Lakes, in the center of the country.
Displacement and political stakes
The drone attacks and front-line clashes were reported alongside ongoing displacement and humanitarian pressures, with Al-Jazeera Net saying the war has killed tens of thousands and displaced about 13 million people inside the country and abroad.

Al-Jazeera Net also described fighting in Blue Nile State for a second day in a row in Kasan locality after an attack by the RSF and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement/North on the border town of Kasan with Ethiopia, with local authorities calling it a war crime.
The same report said the International Organization for Migration announced about 2,500 people (approximately 500 families) have been displaced from Kasan following the clashes, with most families moving within the region and others crossing into Ethiopia.
In parallel, Anadolu Ajansı reported that since April 2023 Sudan has been embroiled in a conflict between the army and the RSF over disagreements about the group’s integration into the military, and said UN data, local authorities and academic estimates put the war’s death toll in the tens of thousands and displacement at about 15 million others.
Mada Masr described how the RSF and its ally the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North, led by Abdel Aziz al-Hilu, seized Geisan on Tuesday and retook Kurmuk two days later, while it also said a fourth high-profile defection hit the RSF-led Tasis administration when Hamad Khalifa, the governor of the Kordofan region, announced Wednesday that he is exiting the group.
