- Global South will shape the international order, per Ghalibaf.
Ghalibaf’s new-order claim
Iranian parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said the “world stands at the cusp of a new order,” arguing that global tensions are reshaping international dynamics.
Ghalibaf linked that shift to what he called the Iranian nation’s “70-day resistance,” saying it “has accelerated this transformation.”

He added that “The future belongs to the Global South,” framing the change as part of a broader geopolitical realignment.
Shafaq News reported that Ghalibaf made the remarks on Saturday on X, citing Chinese President Xi Jinping’s line that “The transformation unseen in a century is accelerating across the globe.”
War context and ceasefire
Shafaq News placed Ghalibaf’s comments amid continued regional tensions months after the United States and Israel launched strikes on targets inside Iran on February 28, 2026.
It said those strikes triggered “large-scale Iranian retaliation against Israel and US interests across the region,” and noted that a ceasefire between Washington and Tehran was announced on April 8.

Shafaq News also said tensions persisted after a US blockade targeting Iranian ports and Iran’s subsequent imposition of special transit rules in the Strait of Hormuz.
The same article said several regional states led by Pakistan are sponsoring indirect talks between Washington and Tehran to contain the conflict and revive diplomatic channels, while Press TV framed Ghalibaf’s message as part of an “unprecedented global shift.”
Multipolar framing and stakes
Press TV said Ghalibaf’s statement described Iran’s “historic resistance” over 70 days as a “driving force” toward a new multipolar order, and it quoted him: “The future belongs to the Global South.”
“Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf has stated that the heroic resistance of the Iranian nation over 70 days has become a driving force in accelerating a transformation unseen in a century, marking the dawn of a new multipolar order”
It also asserted that in response to the February 28 confrontation, the Iranian Armed Forces launched daily missile and drone operations targeting locations in the Israeli-occupied territories as well as US military bases and assets across the region.
Press TV further said Iran retaliated by closing the Strait of Hormuz, which it said resulted in a significant increase in oil prices and their by-products, and it described a Pakistan-brokered temporary ceasefire taking effect on April 8.
In a separate analysis, موقع إضاءات الإخباري described the Iran–American war as turning the Middle East into “a new stage for geopolitical conflict,” with Washington seeking to preserve its influence through military power while China expands through economic diplomacy and mediation.
