Trump rejects Iran plan
Iran’s chief negotiator told Washington it must accept Tehran’s latest peace plan or risk the collapse of the Middle East truce after President Donald Trump warned the ceasefire was near failure.
“United States President Donald Trump has rejected Iran’s response to his latest peace proposal to end the war, which has upended the global economy”
Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Iran’s chief negotiator, wrote on X that "There is no alternative but to accept the rights of the Iranian people as laid out in the 14-point proposal."

The France 24 account said the war began more than two months ago with US-Israeli strikes on Iran and has spread throughout the Middle East while rattling global markets.
The same report said the Pentagon put the war’s cost at nearly $29 billion, about $4 billion higher than an estimate offered two weeks earlier.
Trump then slammed Tehran’s reply as "TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE" and said the truce that has halted fighting for over a month was on its last legs.
Ghalibaf warns of US costs
Iran’s parliamentary speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said on X that the 14-point proposal was the only solution and warned that delay would raise US costs.
Ghalibaf wrote, "Any other approach will be completely inconclusive; nothing but one failure after another," and added that "The longer they drag their feet, the more American taxpayers will pay for it."

Al Jazeera reported that Trump rejected Iran’s response to his latest peace proposal and accused Tehran of "playing games" in a post on his Truth Social platform on Sunday evening.
Al Jazeera also said Trump argued Iran must first reopen the Strait of Hormuz, through which one-fifth of global oil and natural gas exports are shipped during peacetime, while Iran’s de facto blockade came in response to US and Israel attacks on February 28.
China trip and next stakes
As the impasse continued, Trump said he would have a "long talk" with Xi Jinping about Iran and that he does not need Beijing’s help to end the war, while Al Arabiya AFP said Trump expected to press for help in resolving the crisis and reopening the Strait of Hormuz.

France 24 said Iran’s response called for ending the war on all fronts, including in Lebanon, halting the US naval blockade of Iranian ports, and securing the release of Iranian assets frozen abroad under longstanding sanctions.
In parallel, Al Jazeera said Iran’s response focused on ending the war throughout the region, especially in Lebanon, and ensuring "maritime security" in the Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz before moving to secondary negotiations about wider issues including its nuclear programme.
NewsNation reported Trump described the ceasefire as on "life support" after rejecting Tehran’s counter and said the ceasefire was "a stupid proposal" and "unbelievably weak," while the same report said the Strait of Hormuz carried one-fifth of the world’s oil and liquefied natural gas flows before the war began on Feb. 28.
The stakes for the talks and energy markets were underscored by the France 24 account that Trump’s reaction sparked a spike in oil prices and dashed hopes that a deal could be quickly negotiated to reopen the Strait of Hormuz to commercial shipping.
