MoistCr1TiKaL’s Godslap

YouTuber and streamer Charlie “MoistCr1TiKaL” White is self-financing a feature-length adaptation of his comic Godslap, with Lyrical Animation developing the 2D, hand-drawn animated film and White’s Meatier Productions also producing. The project is scheduled for a target release in 2028, with Kellan Stover directing from a script by Lyrical Animation creative director Daniel Dominguez and Lyrical Animation head Jacob Robinson. IGN reported that White published the film’s first teaser trailer on September 3, 2026, and the story centers on an 18-year-old farm boy named Aius raised in isolation by his father because of an extraordinary and supposedly cursed power.

In a statement carried by IGN, White said, “It’s always been a dream of mine to make an animated movie, especially with a studio like Powerhouse, so I couldn’t be more excited,” as production is underway at Austin-based Powerhouse Animation Studios. Deadline also reported that White is the “sole financier” of the Godslap movie, with the comic still roughly two years away from being fully finished.

Team, production, and story

Cartoon Brew said the film is being produced in Austin at Powerhouse Animation Studios, which is handling animation and is known for Netflix adult-oriented action series including Castlevania and Blood of Zeus. Cartoon Brew reported that Godslap will be directed by Kellan Stover from a screenplay by Daniel Dominguez and Jacob Robinson, and it described the plot as Aius being forced out after “one night of rebellion costs him everything.” Bubbleblabber placed the story in “Montpelier” and framed it as a “grimy sci-fi dystopia,” where Aius must decide whether his lethal “god-tier slaps” make him a monster or the only person capable of bringing down the corporation that controls the world.

Animation Magazine quoted Dominguez saying, “We’ve been longtime fans of Charlie, so getting the opportunity to bring his anime-inflected, hilariously violent comic Godslap to life was a dream come true,” tying the adaptation to Powerhouse’s genre credentials. The Times of India said White shared the first look in a YouTube video on September 3 and that the comic first launched in 2022 through publisher Bad Egg, with the film planned to arrive in 2028.

Creator economy stakes

Multiple outlets tied the Godslap film to creator-led expansion, with Deadline noting that the news follows word at this year’s CinemaCon that Lyrical Animation is adapting the video game Bloodborne for film alongside PlayStation Productions and creator/gamer Seán McLoughlin (aka Jacksepticeye). Deadline also reported that Lyrical Media is co-financing the Bloodborne project alongside Sony Pictures, and it described White’s Godslap comic as having sold more than 100,000 copies and being available worldwide. Net Influencer said White is putting “millions” of his own money behind the film and that the deal extends Lyrical’s push into fandom-driven adaptations built around creators and games.

Animation Magazine added that White has more than 25 million followers across his channels and platforms, with content generating approximately 145 million views each month, YouTube videos averaging 1.8 million views, and nightly livestreams drawing an average of 15,000 concurrent viewers. IGN said White plans on releasing the movie in theaters, making it the second big influencer-led project to have a theatrical release following Markiplier’s indie horror Iron Lung earlier this year, while also noting that unannounced elements include a distributor, confirmed release date, and voice cast.
