Ramps Goes Live
MoneyGram said MoneyGram Ramps is now live on Solana, extending cash-to-crypto and crypto-to-cash conversion through a developer API that any Solana wallet, exchange, or app can call.
“MoneyGram announced on August 11, 2026 that MoneyGram Ramps now runs on Solana”
The product supports cash deposits in more than 25 countries and cash withdrawals in more than 170 countries and territories, and it is positioned as a single integration for conversion without each crypto app building its own connections to cash networks.

MoneyGram tied the launch to its broader stablecoin push, saying the service lets users convert between cash and digital assets and cash out through MoneyGram’s payment network.
CoinDesk reported that the expansion “deepens MoneyGram’s push into stablecoin-based payments and remittances,” building on its earlier USDC cash-on/off-ramp with Stellar and the launch of its own dollar-backed stablecoin, MGUSD.C
The company also said the Solana rollout comes as it has become a validator on Solana, helping process and secure transactions on the network.
Scale and Access
MoneyGram’s Solana launch was framed around scale, with the integration described as putting “500,000 Cash Locations” behind a single API and reaching “60M+ customers” alongside “170+ countries.”
PR Newswire said the expansion gives wallets, exchanges and developers across Solana direct access to “trusted fiat on- and off-ramp infrastructure,” with Rift named as the first wallet on Solana to integrate Ramps.

In a statement, MoneyGram Chairman and CEO Anthony Soohoo said, “The future of payments is built on access,” and the company linked that idea to connecting more platforms to its network.
Solana Foundation President Lily Liu said the connection lets developers “more easily build financial applications,” and she tied the launch to Solana being “infrastructure for the more than six billion people on the internet.”
The Defiant reported that the launch “ends its run as a Stellar-only product,” while also describing Rift as the first Solana wallet to integrate the service.
What Comes Next
MoneyGram’s multichain strategy was presented as keeping Ramps available beyond Solana, with the company described as having launched Ramps on Stellar and issuing MGUSD on Stellar in June while also standing up a Solana validator.
“Validator First, Ramps Second”
The Defiant said “Validator First, Ramps Second,” and it described MoneyGram’s June move to run a Solana validator and join the Solana Developer Platform as part of the same expansion.
The Crypto Times said the Solana launch is integrated into the payments module of the Solana Developer Platform, and it described the API as letting developers add MoneyGram’s fiat on-ramp and off-ramp infrastructure “without building separate bank integrations themselves.”T
CoinDesk reported that MoneyGram serves roughly 60 million active customers and views blockchain rails as a way to make cross-border transfers “faster, cheaper and easier to track,” without requiring customers to think about the technology powering them.C
The Defiant added that MoneyGram’s stablecoin work remains on Stellar, stating “Stellar Still Has MGUSD,” even as Rift becomes the first Solana wallet integration for Ramps.
