Home After Hospital Release
Iranian Nobel Peace Prize laureate Narges Mohammadi returned to her home after being discharged from Pars Hospital in Tehran, her foundation said, after she was released from hospital care on Sunday and discharged on Monday.
The Narges Foundation said Mohammadi, 54, had been transferred from prison to a hospital in early May after two episodes of loss of consciousness and a severe cardiac crisis.

Al Jazeera also reported that Mohammadi was transferred from prison to hospital after health deteriorated, and that her daughter and co-president of the Narges Foundation, Kiana Rahmani, said returning Mohammadi to prison would be “a death sentence.”
The Straits Times said Mohammadi was discharged from a cardiac care unit and sent home weeks after being transferred from prison to hospital following a suspected heart attack, and it noted she was hospitalized first in Zanjan and later at Tehran’s Pars Hospital.
Medical Monitoring, Prison Risks
The Narges Foundation said Mohammadi was “scheduled to follow up on her medical complications with her medical team through hospital visits and daily outpatient physiotherapy over the coming weeks,” and that doctors said it was “vital she remains under close medical observation.”
Minute Mirror reported that after spending several days in intensive care, she was moved out of the cardiac unit and discharged under medical supervision, while her family stressed she required strict medical monitoring outside prison conditions.

In a statement attributed to her daughter, Kiana Rahmani, the foundation warned that returning Mohammadi to detention could pose serious risks to her life, quoting: “Her recovery demands strict medical supervision outside prison walls.”
The National also quoted Rahmani saying, “Returning her to detention is a death sentence,” while stating Mohammadi was recovering at home in Iran after undergoing surgery following her release from jail on medical grounds.
Detention History and Calls
Al Jazeera said Mohammadi was imprisoned in December after being arrested during a visit to the eastern Iranian city of Mashhad, and it reported she was transferred from prison to hospital in early May after health crises.
The Straits Times said Mohammadi was arrested in December after denouncing the death of a lawyer, Khosrow Alikordi, and it reported a prosecutor told reporters she made provocative remarks at Alikordi’s memorial ceremony.
Al Jazeera reported that Mohammadi won the 2023 Nobel Peace Prize “for her fight against the oppression of women in Iran and her fight to promote human rights and freedom for all,” and it said her lawyer said six years of a sentence was for “collusion to commit crimes.”
Minute Mirror said the foundation warned that returning Mohammadi to detention could pose serious risks to her life, and it quoted the statement: “Returning her to detention is a death sentence,” while also describing her earlier intensive care at Mousavi Hospital in Zanjan before Pars Hospital in Tehran.
