King Harald of Norway was laid to rest in Oslo Cathedral, with the Norwegian royal family and international royals including Prince William and Princess Anne joining the procession behind King Harald’s bier.

The BBC said the funeral marked the conclusion of a private ceremony at Akershus Fortress, where the king was laid to rest in the crypt of the Palace Chapel after a public service at Oslo Cathedral.

The BBC reported that Prince William represented King Charles while Princess Anne attended in a private capacity, and it said international figures including King Abdullah II of Jordan and Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky were among the attendees.
HOLA said King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain joined the procession in Oslo, with King Haakon leading the solemn procession behind his father’s coffin from the Royal Palace to Oslo Cathedral.
HOLA listed a wide set of European monarchs in the procession, including King Carl Gustaf of Sweden, King Frederik and Queen Mary of Denmark, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium, and King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima of the Netherlands.
People reported that Prince William and Princess Anne attended the service at Oslo Cathedral on Wednesday, Sept. 9 after taking part in the solemn procession, and it said King Felipe, Queen Letizia and Queen Sofía of Spain were also in attendance.
People added that the funeral ceremony began with a procession from the Royal Palace to Oslo Cathedral, and it said the BBC reported around 200,000 people were expected to line the route.
Public mourning ends
The BBC said the crowd was cheering and clapping as the royals waved back from the Royal Palace balcony, describing it as a way for King Haakon VIII, Queen Mette-Marit, Crown Princess Ingrid Alexandra, Prince Sverre Magnus and Queen Sonja to show gratitude for support since King Harald’s death on 28 August.

The New York Times said the funeral drew royal families, heads of state and thousands of citizens to mourn a monarch widely seen as a unifying force, and it reported that at noon the armed forces fired 21 shots from stations around the country.
HELLO! said church bells would now ring out for one hour, and it described a double royal salute being fired for the new King Haakon after the royal salute marked the end of Norway’s mourning period.
