€1 verdict after 2016 heist
A Paris court awarded Kim Kardashian €1 (about $1.15) in damages on Tuesday for the armed robbery she experienced in 2016, according to a lawyer involved in the case.
“a Paris court on Tuesday awarded 1 euro ($1.15) to Kim Kardashian”
The award matched the symbolic amount Kardashian had asked for in a civil damages case tied to the heist, which she described as “the most terrifying experience of my life.”

The court also awarded €109,516 to a former receptionist at the Hôtel de Pourtalès and €50,000 to the hotel, while Kardashian and her stylist Simone Bretter received €1 each.
Reuters reported that the thieves tied Kardashian up at gunpoint in her Paris hotel suite and escaped with more than $6 million in jewelry, including her $4 million engagement ring.
Testimony, convictions, and quotes
The robbery occurred in the French capital in 2016, during Paris Fashion Week, when Kardashian was staying at the Hôtel de Pourtalès and the gang targeted her suite.
ABC News said the court last year found eight people guilty for their roles in what Kardashian described as “the most terrifying experience of my life,” and Reuters said the robbers were known in France as “Grandpa Robbers” because of their advanced ages.
Kardashian testified that two men dressed as police officers entered her suite, bound her with zip ties and tape, and made off with more than $6 million in jewelry, including a diamond ring she had worn that night to a Givenchy show.
In a statement after the ruling, Kardashian said, “Today’s decision is not about the compensation, but about accountability and recognition.”
What the ruling changes
Reuters said Kardashian sought the symbolic €1 from some of those convicted in May 2025 over the heist, and it said the court awarded the €1 amount to her and Simone Bretter, who was present during the robbery.
“Kardashian said in a statement issued afterward that she was “deeply grateful to the French authorities for pursuing justice in this case.””
The court awarded the hotel receptionist €109,516 after he sought €500,000 in damages and interest, and Reuters said Kardashian’s Paris lawyers did not respond to a request for comment.
According to Reuters, Kardashian told the mastermind of the robbery, Aomar Ait Khedache, that she forgave him in court in 2025, and it said he was jailed for three years with seven others convicted for crimes linked to the heist.
Kardashian said she was “deeply grateful to the French authorities for pursuing justice in this case,” while the ruling left her and her stylist saying they hope to “move forward and continue to heal.”
