Locked home deaths
A retired Hindu schoolteacher, his wife and their two children were found dead inside their locked home in Rangpur city, Bangladesh, with police suspecting strangulation and awaiting autopsy findings as multiple units investigate.

The bodies were recovered around 11:30 pm on Saturday from the Daspara (Machhuapara) area, and Nazmul Kader, officer-in-charge of Rangpur Metropolitan Kotwali Police Station, said police recovered the bodies after entering the locked house.
The victims were identified as retired Rangpur Zilla School teacher Ganapati Chakraborty, 65, his wife Pritilata Chakraborty, 50, their daughter Agami Chakraborty Prarthi, 23, and their son Priyam Chakraborty, 12.
Subir Chowdhury, in-charge of Rangpur Metropolitan CID, said the bodies of Pritilata and Agami were found on the staircase, while Ganapati’s body was recovered from the roof, and Priyam’s body was found underneath a bed.
Phones off, investigation
Relatives said the family’s mobile phones had been switched off since Thursday night, and Puja Chakraborty, Pritilata’s younger sister, told The Daily Star that she last spoke to her sister on Thursday afternoon.
Puja said, "We came to Daspara on Saturday night after finding their phones switched off," and she added that the main gate was locked and all the lights inside were off before police broke the lock and entered.
Subir Chowdhury said the killings may have taken place sometime between midnight on Thursday and early Friday, and he described the household belongings as scattered and in disarray, suggesting robbery as a motive.
Sanatan Chakrabarty, deputy commissioner of Rangpur Metropolitan Police and head of the Detective Branch, said, "Initially, we suspect that they were strangled," as police, CID and Detective Branch teams launched a joint investigation.
Arrests and next steps
Connected to India said police arrested two men in connection with the incident, identifying the suspects as Mughdho and Siddhartha.

Connected to India reported that Mohammad Abdul Mabud told The Daily Star that the two suspects allegedly entered the rooftop of Ganapati Chakraborty’s house through an adjoining building and consumed yaba there on Thursday night.
The same briefing said the retired teacher reportedly questioned the men about their presence, and police said the suspects allegedly strangled Chakraborty to prevent him from identifying them.
The investigation is continuing as police and forensic units examine the scene, with the bodies sent to the morgue of Rangpur Medical College Hospital for autopsies, and the exact cause of death and timing to be established after forensic examination and post-mortem reports.
