“Rein Me In” at No. 1
Sam Fender and Olivia Dean’s “Rein Me In” holds at No. 1 on the Official Singles Chart in the U.K. on the chart published on Friday (July 10), marking its 16th nonconsecutive week atop the U.K. chart.

Billboard says the song drops from No. 81 to No. 83 on the Billboard Hot 100 dated July 11 after climbing as high as No. 64, and notes it is the first single to log 16 weeks at No. 1 in the U.K. without reaching the top 10 (or even the top 40) on the Hot 100.
InMusic Blog says the milestone ends a record that had stood for more than three decades, with “Rein Me In” surpassing Wet Wet Wet’s “Love Is All Around,” which spent 15 consecutive weeks atop the chart in 1994.
InMusic Blog adds that “Rein Me In” has now matched Bryan Adams’ “(Everything I Do) I Do It For You,” which spent 16 consecutive weeks at No. 1 in 1991, while Frankie Laine’s “I Believe” continues to hold the all-time U.K. benchmark with 18 weeks at No. 1.
Forbes frames the moment as Olivia Dean making history again as she and Fender rule the Official Singles chart with “Rein Me In,” and says the track is featured on Fender’s album People Watching and became a duet after Fender brought Dean onto a remix.

The BBC reports that Sam Fender and Olivia Dean made chart history as “Rein Me In” became the longest-running number one single of all time by a British act, with 16 weeks at the top of the U.K. charts.
Fender told the BBC that watching the song break chart records has been “been ridiculous” and “an excuse to party,” and he credited Grammy winner Dean, saying: "Olivia putting the alternative narrative on it made the song really universal – that opened the floodgates."
The BBC also says Fender originally released the track on his third solo album more than a year ago, and that the duet was released in June last year as a remix of Fender’s solo album track.
RTTNews adds that “Rein Me In” registers its 15th non-consecutive week at No. 1 on the U.K. singles chart and says it has spent the joint highest number of weeks at No. 1 by any British single in U.K. Official Chart history.
RTTNews further states that “Rein Me In” has spent the joint highest number of weeks in the Top 10 for any non-Christmas single ever with 37 weeks, level with Harry Styles’ “As It Was,” while Olivia Rodrigo’s “stupid song” is at No. 2 and Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean” sticks at No. 3.
What’s next for the duo
The BBC says there is one record left for the pair to break: the record for the longest running number one by any artist, currently held by American Frankie Laine, whose song “I Believe” spent 18 weeks at the top of the charts in 1953.

Billboard notes that “Rein Me In” is currently in its eighth week at No. 1 on the Official Singles Chart in the U.K., but it hasn’t broken through in nearly the same way on the Hot 100, where it drops from its No. 64 high point to No. 73.
Forbes adds that “Rein Me In” remains a streaming smash and is comfortable once again at No. 2 on the Official Streaming chart, while the collaboration reenters the Official Physical Singles ranking at No. 84.
RTTNews says that behind “Rein Me In,” Olivia Rodrigo’s “stupid song” posts a third straight week at No. 2 and that as Styles’ record-breaking 12-night Wembley Stadium residency comes to a close, “American Girls” ascends four spots to No. 4.
