Solana increases maximum transaction size to 4,096 bytes from 1,232 on mainnet. Enables more complex operations, including zero-knowledge proofs and multi-signature transactions.

Transaction V1 triples capacity
Solana activated its Transaction V1 upgrade on mainnet on Tuesday at the start of epoch 1,035 around 1:00 am UTC, raising the maximum transaction size from 1,232 bytes to 4,096 bytes. Bloomingbit said the new limit expands the maximum amount of data in a single transaction to 4,096 bytes, about 3.3 times the previous limit, and that the upgrade is focused on expanding information each transaction can hold rather than increasing transaction volume.
Bloomingbit added that wallets, trading applications and analytics platforms need to update their systems to recognize the new Transaction V1 format, or they may encounter errors when processing V1 transactions and loading blocks that include them. Cointelegraph reported that the upgrade introduced the v1 transaction format with full backward compatibility for legacy transactions, while protocols that want the size increase need to update to v1 transactions.

What the bigger limit enables
Bloomingbit said the larger data limit was meant to ease constraints on multisignature and zero-knowledge proof (ZK Proof)-based applications, where complex tasks often had to be split across multiple transactions. Cryptonews.net described the change as giving developers room for more complex operations, corporate wallet approvals, and privacy-focused applications, and said the extra space contains instructions, signatures, and other information needed to execute a transaction.
Bloomingbit also said that if part of a transaction fails, the entire transaction can be rolled back, improving execution stability compared with linking multiple transactions separately. Cointelegraph quoted a Solana Foundation spokesperson saying the upgrade mainly aims to help developers “do more” with applications such as zero-knowledge proofs and transactions requiring multiple signatures.

Market reaction and compatibility
Traders Union said SOL was trading at $101.14 and had declined slightly today, while noting that SOL is trading below its short- and mid-term moving averages and remains above its longer-term measure. Traders Union quoted analyst Anton Kharitonov saying, “Until SOL decisively recovers the $102.75 level, I consider the rebound limited and will stay cautious here.”
Pluang said Solana’s price recovered to around $101.50 after dipping to $98.38, and it framed key resistance near $103–$105 with a breakout above $106 potentially driving prices to $109–$110.50. Pluang also reported that BNB Chain had overtaken Solana to become the second-largest DeFi network by total value locked (TVL), holding about $5.94 billion compared to Solana’s $5.89 billion as of September 14, 2026.
