Tinder scales Events
Tinder is expanding its in-app “Events” feature from a Los Angeles pilot into nine new cities, including New York, Dallas, Denver, Kansas City, Phoenix, Berlin, Munich, Zurich and Geneva, with the company aiming for the feature to be live in 26 cities by the end of September.

DesignRush says the rollout is supported by a multi-channel campaign spanning creator partnerships, social, CRM, out-of-home, PR and hyperlocal activations in each new market, and it points to a placement at New York City’s Bedford Avenue subway station.

On the product side, Tinder’s Events tab lets users in eligible cities browse local experiences, mark themselves interested, see who else plans to attend, RSVP, check in for an Attended badge, and then match with people who shared the same event.
TechCrunch reports that Tinder’s CEO Spencer Rascoff told analysts on a second-quarter earnings call that the company is expanding its in-person events to dozens of new cities by September, as Match Group’s flagship app revenue declined and sent the stock down by over 10% in after-hours trading.
TechCrunch also says that in March Tinder introduced in-person events in Los Angeles that are featured in a dedicated Events tab, and it notes that Rascoff said 71% of Tinder’s active users in LA, aged 18 to 24, had engaged with the new sections.
Gen Z and IRL
TechCrunch frames the push as a response to Gen Z reconsidering dating apps, quoting Rascoff saying, “Our internal research shows that nearly half of singles aged 18 to 29 want to share in-person experiences with people who could become closer connections.”
Rascoff told analysts that “for a generation that grew up online, making that transition into real life can still feel hard,” and TechCrunch reports he said Tinder is “doubling down on more social, lower-pressure ways for users to connect in real life.”
DesignRush adds that Tinder’s Chief Product Officer Mark Kantor said events with friends or meeting around a shared interest can remove the intimidation that comes with dating, and it quotes him saying, “And when people already have something in common, making a real connection becomes more natural,”.
The same DesignRush account says a 60-person candlelight ceramics class sold out within a day of being promoted during the Los Angeles pilot, and it reports strong demand for DJ nights, game nights, hikes and group runs.
TechCrunch says Tinder’s Events tab features curated local events held at speakeasies, bowling alleys, raves, and pottery classes, among others, and it reports that since its March debut the company has featured over 60 events.
Rollout economics and outlook
TechCrunch reports that Tinder is scaling Events via a “low-cost model built primarily around partnerships with leading event providers,” meaning Tinder isn’t directly running the events but making them discoverable through its app.

In the same TechCrunch account, Rascoff says, “We see the value of events extending far beyond those who attend,” adding that bringing more real-world connection into the experience can help shift perception of Tinder and the category more broadly.
StockStory’s MTCH Q2 deep dive ties the strategy to Match Group’s financial picture, saying Match met Wall Street’s revenue expectations in Q2 CY2026 but sales fell by 1.2% year on year to $853.1 million.
StockStory reports that CEO Bernard Rascoff attributed performance to continued declines in monthly active users, especially at Tinder, while engagement metrics such as daily active users and “Sparks” showed improvement.
StockStory also says management expects the next several quarters to be driven by continued product innovation at Tinder, including the rollout of new events features and advancements in algorithmic recommendations, and it notes that management rolled out the events feature in additional cities aiming to drive both reconsideration from lapsed users and new user growth.
