Premiere in London
Tom Holland and Zendaya appeared together at the London premiere of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, with Holland speaking to the Press Association during the event.
“No-one calms me down better than she does”
Holland told the Press Association, “No-one calms me down better than she does,” as he described Zendaya’s presence amid “craziness and travelling the world and making these movies.”
The London Evening Standard said the couple met on the set of Spider-Man: Homecoming in 2017, and that Holland and Zendaya have since reprised their roles in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
The film’s story, as described by the London Evening Standard, follows Peter as he navigates his new life four years on from the events of 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, when a spell made the world forget his real identity.
The London Evening Standard also said Spider-Man: Brand New Day is out in cinemas across the UK from July 29.
Hope for a crossover
While promoting Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Amy Pascal and Marvel’s Kevin Feige were asked how close they were to making a Tom Holland Spider-Man and Tom Hardy Venom crossover happen.
Pascal said on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, “I have hope. We have hope.”
Deadline reported that Final Destination Bloodlines duo Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein were set to direct an animated Venom movie for Sony, and Pascal said an animated Venom movie is still in the works.
In a separate discussion about the crossover, Tom Hardy said in 2025 on The Discourse Podcast, “We got as close as I could possibly imagine getting, apart from doing a film together, which I would have loved to have done because that just means so much fun.”
Zendaya on working together
At the London premiere, BBC News asked Zendaya for tips for working together with her husband Tom Holland, and she answered with a short, direct take on their relationship.
“I think when you’re best friends, it’s pretty easy.”
Zendaya told BBC News, “I think when you’re best friends, it’s pretty easy.”
The BBC said Holland reprises his role as Peter Parker and his superhero alter-ego in the latest instalment, while Zendaya plays his onscreen love interest, MJ.
BBC News also reported that Zendaya wore a floor-length Tamara Ralph champagne silk crepe gown with spider webby straps, and that she said, “I love these films, I love making them, I love being able to extend the filmmaking process and the storytelling process through the press tour and the clothes and through fashion.”
The BBC added that Sadie Sink joined the franchise in a highly secretive, mystery role, and that Sink didn’t attend the premiere.
