Trump Administration Implements Automatic Military Draft Registration For Men 18 To 25

The Trump administration is set to implement automatic military draft registration for all men aged 18 to 25.

The system will automatically enroll men using data from state motor vehicle departments, educational institutions, and federal tax and immigration agencies.

Failure to register remains a felony punishable by up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

The change affects not only citizens but also lawful permanent residents, asylum seekers, DACA recipients, and undocumented immigrants.

The U.S. has not had a draft since 1973.

The last U.S. military draft was in 1973.

Trump avoided the Vietnam draft on five separate occasions.

The new automatic registration system is being implemented amid the widening US-Israeli war in the Middle East.

The automatic registration plan has drawn pushback from a coalition of more than 40 organizations.

Men will be registered automatically within 30 days of their 18th birthdays.
