Trump Signs Executive Order Overhauling US Childhood Vaccine Schedule, Including Autism Concerns

President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Monday that remakes the United States childhood immunization schedule, presenting it as the “Gold Standard Childhood Vaccination Recommendations.”

Trump said the recommendations involve “including autism in particular,” and he argued that “People were much healthier” when children “received only a small fraction of the vaccines.”

The order would eliminate several vaccines from universal recommendations and downgrade vaccines for diseases like RSV, hepatitis, and meningococcus to only be recommended for “certain high-risk groups or populations.”
