Registry Hits 1,001
The UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) announced the registration of aircraft No. (1001) in the UAE National Aircraft Registry, marking the first time the registry has surpassed 1,000 registered aircraft.
Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, director-general of the GCAA, said, "Surpassing the milestone of 1,000 registered aircraft represents a significant achievement for the UAE" and linked it to continued growth in the civil aviation sector.

Eng. Aqeel Al Zarooni, assistant director-general for Aviation Safety Affairs at the GCAA, said the milestone reflects the "maturity, efficiency and international credibility" of the UAE's aircraft registration system.
The GCAA said the system operates "fully in accordance with international standards" and delivers streamlined, transparent and reliable services for aircraft owners and operators.
The GCAA also said it continues to enhance registration services through "smart digital transformation" and risk-based oversight to keep pace with sustained sector growth.
Who Operates the Fleet
GCAA figures cited by Khaleej Times say the UAE's National Aircraft Registry has surpassed 1,000 registered aircraft and that more than 55 per cent are operated by Emirati carriers like Emirates, Etihad, flydubai and Air Arabia. Khaleej Times reported that among the 1,001 planes, there are more than 300 Boeing-manufactured aircraft, while over 550 are commercial transport aircraft. Gulf News said national carriers account for 554 aircraft in the UAE registry, representing more than 55% of the total registered fleet.
The GCAA also said the registry continues to update aviation legislation, simplify procedures and expand digital registration services, while operating in line with international standards. The Emirates News article similarly said the fleets of the national carriers comprise 554 aircraft out of the total registered in the country, representing more than 55% of the National Aircraft Registry.

Models and Oversight Focus
Khaleej Times listed plane models registered in the UAE including Boeing 777, Airbus A380, Boeing 737 MAX, Airbus A320neo, and Boeing 787 as the registry passed 1,000. The GCAA said the system delivers "streamlined, transparent and reliable services" that meet the evolving needs of aircraft owners and operators. Global Times said the GCAA continues to enhance its registration services through "continuous regulatory improvement" and risk-based oversight, while upholding safety, operational excellence and regulatory compliance.
Gulf Today framed the milestone as part of the UAE's air transport sector strength, noting that the fleet of the UAE’s national carriers comprises 554 aircraft, representing more than 55 percent of the total aircraft registered. The GCAA said further improvements would focus on digital transformation, regulatory updates and risk-based oversight while maintaining safety and compliance standards, according to Gulf News.
