Ozon hits in Russia
Ukraine struck multiple Ozon logistics facilities in southern Russia, and a warehouse in the Orenburg region closed after drones fell on its facilities, local authorities reported. Reuters said the governor of Russia's Orenburg region reported that Russian defence ministry repelled six drones over the region and that no one had been injured, while Ozon said it evacuated more than 300 people and halted work at its Orenburg region logistics centre. In the Krasnodar region, Russian authorities said debris from a Ukrainian drone targeting an Ozon warehouse fell on a private children’s center, killing three children and injuring seven others.
Anadolu Ajansı reported that Governor Veniamin Kondratyev said the drone was initially shot down by air defenses during a large-scale attack overnight, and Ozon confirmed its logistics center in Krasnodar was attacked. AThe same Reuters report described the Ozon strike in the Samara region on Saturday as the first on Ozon, following weeks of drone attacks targeting Wildberries.
Competing death tolls
Russian officials and company statements described the Krasnodar attack as drone debris falling on a children’s care center, with regional governor Veniamin Kondrátiev saying via Telegram that "Unfortunately, two children have died". El Mundo added that Kondrátiev said seven other children and two adults were injured and that Ozon confirmed the attack on one of its warehouses in Krasnodar, while the company said there were no casualties among staff. Anadolu Ajansı, by contrast, reported that Russian Commissioner for Children's Rights Maria Lvova-Belova confirmed three teenagers were killed, naming them as 13, 15, and 16 years old.A
El Mundo also said the nighttime drone attack caused a fire at an Ozon warehouse nearby and that staff were evacuated quickly, while it framed the context as Ukraine attacking Russian logistics infrastructure in recent weeks. Euronews reported that two children were killed and nine people injured, including seven children, when drone debris hit a private childcare centre in Krasnodar during the overnight attacks, and it said Ozon suspended operations after a drone attack at around 05:00 local time in Makhachkala.
Economic infrastructure stakes
Ukraine’s campaign against Russian logistics infrastructure hit Ozon again as drones struck four more hangars after destroying two Ozon warehouses over the weekend, and El País said the strikes extended a campaign targeting key economic infrastructure.
El País reported that a drone hit an Ozon warehouse in the city of Enem in the Krasnodar province causing a "large-scale" fire, while another strike set ablaze another facility and injured several people in Makhachkala in Dagestan.
Ozon said in a statement that "All safety systems operated normally and we evacuated the workers quickly. Their lives are not in danger," and it also pledged to reimburse end customers for orders already in progress affected by the fires.
El País said the Russian government was evaluating options to support companies and that the Ministry of Finance announced entrepreneurs will be able to defer IVA (VAT) and corporate tax payments for one year if losses exceed 5% of annual revenue.
Euronews said Kyiv’s defence ministry stated, "After Ukrainian units hit the 15 largest logistics hubs of Wildberries, it is now Ozon's turn," while Russia condemned the attacks on what it described as civilian infrastructure.
