Ozon hubs hit
Ukraine’s drones attacked four Ozon logistics hubs across southern Russia, with Ozon saying a fire broke out at an Ozon centre in Makhachkala in Russia’s Dagestan region after a drone attack at around 05:00 local time on Monday.
“Four logistics hubs in southern Russia were attacked”
Euronews reported that drone debris also struck apartment buildings and set warehouses on fire, while Ozon said several people were wounded but their lives were not in danger and that the facility had suspended operations.
The same overnight attacks included a large fire at an Ozon logistics centre in Enem in Russia’s Krasnodar region, and Ozon said staff were evacuated and no casualties were reported.
In the Krasnodar region, regional governor Veniamin Kondratyev said two children were killed and nine people were injured, including seven children, when drone debris hit a private childcare centre during the overnight attacks.
Euronews said the latest incidents bring the total to six Ozon facilities targeted since Saturday, when Ukraine announced it was turning its attention to Ozon after weeks of strikes against Wildberries.
Kyiv’s campaign, Moscow’s response
Kyiv framed the strikes as part of a campaign to disrupt Moscow’s commercial supply networks, with Ukraine’s defence ministry saying, "After Ukrainian units hit the 15 largest logistics hubs of Wildberries, it is now Ozon's turn."
Euronews reported that Kyiv says warehouses operated by the retailers store dual-use goods and form part of supply networks supporting Russia’s military, while Russia condemned the attacks on what it describes as civilian infrastructure.
The Moscow Times said Ukrainian strikes killed at least three teenagers in the Krasnodar region, and Russian human rights chief Maria Lvova-Belova said another six children were hospitalized for injuries sustained during the attack in Krasnodar.
Anadolu Ajansı reported that Elena Teslova said on Max that "three teenagers — aged 13, 15, and 16 — were killed," and it quoted Maria Lvova-Belova confirming the death toll.
Euronews also said the strikes come two days after Russia launched a major daytime drone attack on the city of Kryvyi Rih, the hometown of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Evacuations, market impact
Ozon said its facilities in Adygeysk and Nevinnomyssk were evacuated because of the threat of drone attacks but escaped damage, while Ozon reported that its logistics centre in the Samara and Orenburg regions were targeted over the weekend and forced hundreds of employees to evacuate and disrupt operations.
“Ozon shares falling by over 20% at one stage”
Euronews reported that the latest attacks also hit investors, with Ozon shares falling by over 20% at one stage on the Moscow Exchange on Monday.
The Moscow Times said shares in Ozon fell by as much as 28% on the Moscow Exchange following the news of the attacks, while shares in its major shareholder AFK Sistema fell by more than 13%.
In addition to the Ozon strikes, Anadolu Ajansı reported that the Russian Defense Ministry said it carried out overnight strikes on Ukrainian port infrastructure and vessels used to deliver supplies to the Ukrainian military, including strikes hitting the port of Pivdennyi in Ukraine’s Odesa region.
Euronews said the campaign against Ozon follows Ukraine’s weeks-long strikes against Wildberries, and it described Ozon as Russia’s second-largest online marketplace after weeks of strikes against rival Wildberries.
