U.S. Readies for Escalation
The Israeli news site Walla revealed that the United States is preparing to send additional troops and aircraft to Israel in the coming weeks in anticipation of escalation with Iran.
Walla said there are currently about 3,000 American soldiers deployed in Israel, including personnel operating air defense systems, plus pilots, support crews, and logistical troops and personnel at military headquarters.

Walla reported that the Israeli army continues its preparations for a possible outbreak of a new confrontation with Iran or a rapid deterioration in the region, while military coordination between Israel and the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) continues.
IRNA quoted Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi as saying during his meeting with ambassadors and diplomatic representatives in Tehran that Iran is ready to proceed along the diplomatic path.
The Al-Waqa'i al-Ikhbari report said the preparations come amid ongoing tension between Tehran and Washington, while U.S. President Donald Trump announced that the United States did not agree to Iranian conditions raised during meetings on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.
Elections, War, and Talks
Ali Reza Mozaei said low participation in the presidential election helped Netanyahu persuade Trump to attack Iran. Mozaei added: "if Mahziarian had not been chosen and someone else had come; not only war, the regime might have fallen." Ron Elving said the latest reality seems to be the additional aircraft carrier battle group steaming toward the region and 10,000 troops newly mobilized for possible action.
Scott Simon asked whether President Trump turned down the most recent offer from Iran to end the war and whether bombing would resume as talks have stalled. Elving said Trump keeps saying there'll be a ceasefire right after the election in America, and he needs something positive to show for this war now before the midterms.

Pressure, Risk, and Politics
Ron Elving said voters are consumers first, and when they get hit in their wallets, they look for a way to hit back, targeting the party in power or incumbents on the ballot. Elving said the Democrats have the easier case to make by blaming the Trump tariffs and Trump's war in the Middle East as midterms turn on turnout, anger, and disappointment. The NPR segment said voters have over seven months of an actual war with Iran to consider between economic news and trade wars as the midterm elections approach.
The Al-Waqa'i al-Ikhbari report said hostile parties to Israel are monitoring the elections in Israel and the United States and studying the possibility of carrying out attacks to influence the situation without getting drawn into a broad escalation. The Al-Waqa'i al-Ikhbari report added that Israel would respond decisively if an attack occurs, while Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi asserted Iran is ready to continue the diplomatic track toward a solution.
