US Tries to Extract American Pilot From Iran in Secret Mission
U.S. forces retrieved two airmen from inside Iran after an F-15E was shot down. Iranian officials alleged the mission was a cover to steal enriched uranium.
Dangerous Search-Rescue
US special forces launched a hazardous rescue operation inside Iran to recover a missing F-15E weapons systems officer. President Trump hailed the mission as one of the most daring in US history. The Iranian Foreign Ministry dismissed the operation as a deception and escape mission, raising suspicions it may have served as cover for an attempt to steal enriched uranium.
The geographic gap between the claimed rescue area and the military action theater fueled Tehran's suspicions. Multiple US aircraft were forced to make emergency landings after coming under fire.
The US reportedly destroyed disabled planes to prevent capture. The mission's CIA-coordinated deception campaign further complicated narratives around the operation.
