Vanessa Trump Announces Breast Cancer Diagnosis, Says She Is Working With Her Medical Team

Vanessa Trump, the ex-wife of Donald Trump Jr., said in a social media post on Instagram on Wednesday that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

She wrote, “I want to share a personal health update. I’ve recently been diagnosed with breast cancer,” and said she is “working closely with my medical team on a treatment plan.”

Trump, 48, said she thanked her doctors “for performing a procedure earlier this week on me,” and asked for privacy as she focuses on her health and recovery.

NBC News reported that she is “focused and hopeful” and surrounded by the support of her family, while CNN said she asked for privacy as she focuses on her health and recovery.

Ivanka Trump, Donald Jr.’s sister, offered well wishes after Vanessa Trump’s announcement, commenting, “Praying for your continued strength and a swift recovery. Love you mama.”

Beyond personal details, BBC cited the American Cancer Society, saying the average risk of a woman in the US developing breast cancer is about 1 in 8, or 13%, and that the disease accounts for 30% of all new female cancers every year.

BBC added that “Surgery cures most breast cancers,” and that if some disease remains, “chemotherapy, radiotherapy and endocrine therapy can reduce the long-term risk of dying,” while also describing advancing treatments including “more targeted therapies for early breast cancer.”
