US Central Command wrote in a post on X: "Rewards for Justice is offering a reward of up to $20 million and possible relocation for information about Iran’s nuclear program, including its facilities, equipment, and associated personnel, such as those in the scientific community, or the movement of any of the above. In 2025, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) reported that Iran is enriching uranium to 60 percent purity, a level that is a short technical step from the 90 percent required for a nuclear weapon.

"Iran is the only non-nuclear-weapon state to produce uranium at such a high enrichment level. Experts estimate this quantity, if enriched further, could be enough for several nuclear weapons. The regime’s lack of compliance with the IAEA on safeguards obligations has led to the agency’s loss of 'continuity of knowledge' regarding Iran’s production and inventory of key components like centrifuges." After quoting the Rewards for Justice text on 60 per cent enrichment, a 'short technical step' from weapons grade and 'several nuclear weapons', the Express never says that Iran insists its programme is peaceful. Without it a reader takes the weapons framing as uncontested fact rather than the US government's case.

It comes after the President of the United States said last year: "Iran's nuclear enrichment facilities have been completely and totally obliterated." He added: "Iran, the bully of the Middle East , must now make peace. If they do not, future attacks would be far greater and a lot easier." In June 2025, CNN reported that an early intelligence assessment indicated that military strikes on three of Iran's nuclear facilities did not destroy the core components of the country's nuclear program, likely only setting it back by months.

The White House insisted that these reports were "fake news". Mr Trump said on Friday that Iran wanted to end the conflict, saying Tehran's economy and military were heavily damaged. He also said: "We're also ensuring that Iran will never have a nuclear weapon." Mr Trump added: "They will never have it. Not even close.

They're not close." The Daily Express reports the US reward for intelligence on Iran's nuclear programme and fairly sets Trump's 2025 'obliterated' claim against CNN's report that the strikes did not destroy the programme's core. It then lets US voices carry the whole story: the Rewards for Justice text frames the programme in weapons terms, and Trump's claim that without the B2 strikes 'there would be no Israel' ends the article with nothing set against it. Iran's position, reported elsewhere, that its programme is peaceful never appears.

  1. Gives a contested claim the last word

    Serious

“if I allowed them to have it today, there would be no Israel”

    Why this matters
The Express closes the article on Trump's claim that Iran would have a nuclear weapon and would destroy Israel had the US not bombed it. Nothing follows it.
    The impression it gives
A reader takes it as settled that Iran was building a nuclear weapon and would use it to wipe out Israel, so the strikes were plainly necessary.
    The context
Iran's weapons intent is contested. CNN's report on the same reward states that Tehran has always insisted its programme is peaceful. The Express gives no Iranian response, so Trump's claim stands as the last word.
