Six arrested after Shin Bet and police uncover cell that built rocket body and explosive devices in West Bank
Israel Police and the Shin Bet uncovered an infrastructure for manufacturing rockets and using them against Israel and its security forces, and a prosecutor’s statement was filed against six suspects, the agencies said in a joint statement. The investigation found that the suspects manufactured a rocket body and explosive devices and conducted tests, including three test launches. The investigation was conducted over the past few months by the Counter-Terrorism Unit of the Judea and Samaria District’s Central Unit, in cooperation with the Shin Bet.
Weapons were seized, including an M16 rifle and an RPG component, and six suspects were arrested for their involvement. Investigators found that the cell received information via a messaging app, provided by an external party in contact with the case’s primary suspect, regarding the materials required to produce explosives. Written materials were also seized containing information and instructions for the manufacture of explosives, rockets and explosive devices intended for use against the State of Israel and its security forces.
The prosecutor’s statement was filed over the weekend against six suspects, residents of the Jenin area in their 30s, on suspicion of involvement in the case. An indictment is expected to be filed against them in the coming days. The agencies said the Israel Police, the Shin Bet and the IDF “will continue to act with determination” against terrorist activity, “working to thwart security threats and ensure that all those involved are brought to justice.”
