About this analysis

Haaretz reports that Israeli occupation forces forcibly displaced 2,231 Palestinians from their homes in Hebron. It attributes the figures to the city's deputy mayor and names the army as the actor. The text available is brief, and nothing in it misleads the reader.

What it gets right

  • “The Israel Defense Forces has forcibly displaced 2,231 Palestinians from their homes in the West Bank city of Hebron”

Haaretz names who did it and calls the act forced displacement. It does not soften it to an evacuation.

  • “373 families have been forced from their homes so far, while about 30 more families are threatened with forced removal”

The article keeps the language of force and gives the families' numbers on the word of a named Palestinian official. The defence minister's own admission in other coverage bears it out.
