A Reuters/Al Jazeera correspondent reported that an Israeli airstrike hit the outskirts of the town of Ain al-Tineh in western Beqaa, eastern Lebanon, in a new escalation.

The Lebanese News Agency said Israeli attacks and explosions struck towns including al-Mansouri, Majdil Zoun, Bayt al-Siyad, Beit Liyaf, Zarbine, Zowtar al-Sharqiya, and Mayfud, and it confirmed that a series of Israeli airstrikes and explosions targeted al-Mansouri.

In parallel, an Israeli army spokesperson said Israeli forces intercepted a drone that he claimed Hezbollah members launched toward Israeli soldiers in what Israel calls the "security zone," and said it was followed by Israeli strikes in response.

Officials, Hospitals, and Disputes

Lebanese authorities said the raids claimed a martyr and 15 wounded in Al-Ramadiyah in the Sidon District, including six medics from the “Kashafat al-Risala” scouts, three women and two children, while two people were martyred in Kfarhamon in the Nabatieh District.

The Lebanese Ministry of Public Health’s Emergency Operations Center, as published by the Lebanese News Agency, also reported that three people, including a woman, were injured in Nabatieh al-Faouqa, and four, including two women, were injured in Maïfoun in the Nabatieh District.

In the same reporting, the Israeli occupation army carried out air raids targeting towns and regions in the south and western Bekaa, including an airstrike on the outskirts of Ain al-Tineh in the western Bekaa.

The escalation was described as continuing despite a Beirut-Tel Aviv agreement on a gradual Israeli withdrawal under U.S. mediation, and the article said that since March 2, 2026, Israel has continued its aggression against Lebanon, resulting in more than four thousand martyred and over 12,000 injured, in addition to the displacement of more than a million people, according to Lebanese authorities.

The American Embassy in Lebanon welcomed the release of Lebanese prisoners by Israel, saying: “We welcome Israel’s release of prisoners under the trilateral mechanism between Lebanon and Israel. This is a positive step,” and it urged both sides to continue building on the momentum before the next round of negotiations.

Security Zone and Next Steps

The Israeli army announced the completion of “cleansing and neutralizing” operations on two underground tunnels belonging to Hezbollah in the al-Taher Heights area in southern Lebanon, confirming that its forces achieved operational control above and below ground.

The same report said civilian and underground infrastructure demining work is still ongoing, and it described the tunnels as a strategic network built over more than two decades with funding and planning from the Iranian regime, including command centers, rooms for storing weapons and generators, and living quarters and facilities.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Katz said Israel would not withdraw from the “Security Zone,” and in a statement carried by The Times of Israel he said: “Israel will not withdraw from the Security Zone in Lebanon until Hezbollah is disarmed across Lebanon and the threats facing residents of the Galilee are removed.”

The report also said Katz described the operation as the “completion of the phase of imposing control over the Security Zone in southern Lebanon,” linking any Israeli withdrawal to the disarmament of Hezbollah throughout Lebanon.

Meanwhile, the bombardment continued as Lebanese National News Agency reports described Israeli artillery shelling that ignited fires in a neighborhood inside Zotar al-Sharqiya after an Israeli Merkava tank targeted neighborhoods in the town from the direction of Meitavon.
