Hormuz Insecurity, Blamed

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi warned that mounting insecurity in the strategic Strait of Hormuz was the "inevitable result" of military aggression by the United States and Israel against Iran during a joint press conference in Tehran with visiting Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. Araghchi said, "Our common view withRussiais that regional issues have no military solution," and he urged diplomacy and political solutions instead of force.

Araghchi told reporters that the insecurity in the Strait of Hormuz was the "inevitable result of the military aggression of the United States and the Zionist regime againstIran," and he added that the "genocide in Palestine and the dangerous expansionism of the Zionist regime must be stopped" immediately. Araghchi also said Tehran and Moscow shared grave concerns about emerging security threats in the Caspian Sea, including "attacks onIranian andRussian ships," and he linked the issue to recent attacks on commercial shipping vessels.

China Backs Iran

Chinese Premier Li Qiang condemned US and Israeli attacks on Iran and backed reviving the Islamabad Agreement in a Monday meeting with Iranian First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref, Iran’s state news agency IRNA reported. Li told Aref that the strikes were "blatant aggression" that came during negotiations and without UN Security Council approval, according to IRNA.

Aref spoke at the SCO Prime Ministers meeting in Tajik capital of Dushanbe and said a sustainable response to shared economic threats could not be limited merely to condemning them, arguing that SCO members must strengthen their own economic capacities. Aref cited the deaths of more than 157 schoolchildren in Minab Elementary School during the US-Israeli military aggression waged against Iran on February 28, and he said education is a fundamental human right.
