Connor Michael Murphy Drowns in Thailand After Fleeing Police, ThaiRath Reports

Connor Michael Murphy, an American fitness influencer, died at 32 after a drowning incident in Thailand, according to ThaiRath, which said an emergency call came around 3 p.m. local time on July 7, 2026, in the Bang Phli district of Samut Prakan province.

ThaiRath reported that police and rescue volunteers responded after a foreign man entered a lake inside a luxury residential village, and divers recovered Murphy’s body roughly 20 meters from shore.

Investigators said the initial examination found no signs of assault and that the body was sent for a formal autopsy, while investigators also planned toxicology testing and notified the U.S. Embassy in Thailand.

NewsNation reported that police in Samut Prakan province responded to reports around 3 p.m. local time of a man displaying disturbing behavior, and that Murphy fled when officers arrived, ran toward a nearby lake, and swam into the water before rescue personnel recovered his body about 30 minutes later, approximately 65 feet from shore.

Multiple outlets tied the scene to items found in Murphy’s vehicle, with ThaiRath saying investigators found two unused syringes in Murphy’s car and unidentified white pills in a waist bag.

KPTV reported that investigators also found two unused syringes and several white pills inside a bag in his vehicle, and that Murphy’s body showed no signs of assault and was sent to the hospital for an autopsy.

ThaiRath said those findings do not establish a cause of death and that authorities said further examination and testing were pending, including toxicology testing.

Tony Huge, described by TMZ as Murphy’s longtime friend, told the outlet that Murphy was injecting liquid gold before his death and that the practice may have led to some sort of psychosis.

TMZ quoted Huge warning about unknown consequences, saying he was worried about the precious metal and that it was sometimes bought right from jewelry shops in Thailand.

The Times of India reported that fellow content creator Androgenic claimed Murphy became convinced that injecting gold into his body could give him “special powers” in the weeks leading up to his death, and that Thai officials had not confirmed the allegations.

The Times of India also said investigators continue to wait for autopsy and toxicology results, while noting that none of the allegations regarding gold injections have been confirmed by Thai officials or medical authorities.
