Two outlets stress unproven claims, reducing certainty about Tehran’s role.

Trump threatens hard retaliation

U.S. President Donald Trump said Tehran would be hit "very hard" if Iran was related to the Dubai-Tel Aviv Flydubai incident, after Flydubai flight FZ1073 was diverted and made an emergency landing in the Saudi city of Tabuk.

Trump told reporters, "They’ll be hit very hard, don’t worry," as he responded to questions about whether the United States would consider retaliation against Iran if it was connected to the incident.

Flydubai said an “altercation occurred in the flight deck,” and crew members intervened to secure the plane before it was safely diverted.

The airline suspended flights to and from Israel while authorities investigate, and the suspension would remain under review as more information becomes available.

Iran link is disputed

Trump suggested the Flydubai Flight 1073 pilot "could have been" infiltrated by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), while he also said there were no certainties about the link.

Trump told reporters outside the White House, "We’re working on it. I would say, from what I’ve heard, the answer is yes.", and he added, "He could have been, yes."

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told Fox News that it was "too early" to know if Iran was involved, and Netanyahu said the attacker was "subjected to radical Islamist indoctrination."

CBS News reported that Netanyahu went further than Trump by saying it was "too early to say" if Iran was involved, while Trump said the answer based on what he was hearing was yes.

Military moves and next steps

A U.S. official said the U.S. military was dispatching roughly 9,000 troops aboard a group of ships to the Middle East, including a third aircraft carrier, as Trump warned that new strikes against Iran could be on the horizon.

Fortune reported that the group of ships en route to the Middle East carried over 7,000 sailors and 2,000 Marines, and it included the USS Theodore Roosevelt carrier strike group and the USS Makin Island amphibious readiness group.

Trump also told reporters that it was "possible" he may resume bombing Iran after the Nov. 3 elections in the United States, and he said he rejected Iran’s latest truce proposal because "things that I wouldn’t have approved a year ago I wouldn’t have today."

The Straits Times said the United States was set to send a third US aircraft carrier and up to 10,000 extra service members to the Middle East by the end of November, and it cited the USS Theodore Roosevelt as the new carrier.
