Al-Aqsa incursions intensify

Dozens of Zionist settlers stormed the courtyards of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem on Tuesday, performing Jewish rituals with the support of the Zionist occupation forces.

The Jerusalem Governorate said dozens of settlers entered Al-Aqsa, performed Jewish rituals in front of its gates, and conducted provocative tours, while Muslim worshippers were prevented from entering and checkpoints were set up.

AL24 News said police and occupation forces spread through the mosque’s courtyards and at its gates to secure the storming settlers, and security measures were tightened around the mosque and its doors, hindering the entry of worshippers and denying access to others.

AL24 News also said the settlers storm Al-Aqsa almost daily in two sessions, morning and evening, and that during the first week of June this year more than 1,552 settlers storming its courtyards with the support of the occupation police marked a notable escalation.

Condemnations and competing frames

Palestinian authorities said dozens of illegal settlers entered the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, toured its courtyards and performed Talmudic rituals under the protection of Israeli police, according to WAFA as cited by TRT World.

TRT World reported that the incursions were carried out under Israeli police protection and that the site is the world’s third-holiest site for Muslims, with Jews referring to the area as the Temple Mount.

In a separate statement, the Foreign Ministers of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar, the Republic of Indonesia, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Arab Republic of Egypt, and the Republic of Turkey condemned the ongoing incursions by Israeli extremist settlers into Al-Aqsa Mosque / Al-Haram al-Sharif under the protection of Israeli forces.

The ministers said these provocative and unacceptable acts constitute a flagrant violation of international law, United Nations resolutions, and the historical and legal status quo of the holy sites in East Jerusalem and the occupied East Jerusalem.

What is at stake next

The Foreign Ministers’ statement said the entire area of Al-Aqsa Mosque / Al-Haram al-Sharif, totaling 144 dunams, is a pure place of worship for Muslims, and that the Jerusalem Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Department is the legal authority with exclusive jurisdiction to manage all affairs of Al-Aqsa Mosque / Al-Haram al-Sharif.

They also held Israeli authorities responsible for stopping escalatory measures and warned that repeated Israeli violations lead to heightened tensions, fuel instability and extremism, and undermine international efforts to achieve peace.

The statement reaffirmed solidarity with the Palestinian people and their legitimate, non-negotiable national rights, foremost among them the right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent sovereign Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967 lines with its capital in East Jerusalem.

In parallel, VOI.id said the Palestinian Ministry of Palestinian Affairs and Religious Affairs recorded 23 Israeli attacks on the Al-Aqsa Mosque during May and 74 bans on prayer at the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron, while also reporting that thousands of Israeli settlers stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque complex via the Moroccan Gate in the morning and afternoon escorted by police.
