Bomb after desert display
An explosion killed a security official driver and injured another after the end of a military showcase for desert security in Deir Ezzor, according to the المرصد السوري لحقوق الإنسان, with the blast occurring near the area administration building of the Tadmur region in eastern Homs governorate.

The المرصد السوري لحقوق الإنسان said a woman carrying a black bag was stopped by guards near the regional building, and when one of the young men tried to take the bag to inspect it, the device inside the bag exploded, killing a young man and injuring another who was transported to the Tadmur hospital.
The same source said the woman disappeared after the explosion and that her identity or the party behind the attack remains officially unclear at this time.
It added that the explosion occurred amid ongoing activity of “the Organization’s” cells in the Syrian desert, carrying out attacks and security operations targeting government forces and civilians in various areas.
In parallel, Euronews described a bomb inside a bag carried by a scrap collector in front of the directorate building in the eastern countryside of Homs, saying one member of the Tadmur district guard was killed and two civilians were wounded.
Conflicting casualty framing
A bomb explosion near the Deir al-Tamar district office in the Homs countryside was described by آخر خبر as killing one person and wounding two others, with the Syrian News Agency reporting that a guard member was killed and two civilians were injured when a bomb exploded inside a bag in the possession of a scrap metal collector.
آخر خبر quoted a security source saying the explosion occurred while the bag was being searched by district guards, and it said internal security forces arrived at the scene and investigations began to determine the circumstances and identify the source of the bomb.
Euronews, meanwhile, said the government-owned SANA News Agency reported the explosion occurred while the bag was being inspected by the directorate’s guards, resulting in the death of one guard and injuries to two people.
Euronews also placed the incident “days after” an explosive device exploded on a passenger bus transporting internal security personnel as it passed along the M’roneh–Til road in rural Damascus, injuring several officers, as announced by official Syrian television.
War remnants and investigations
Euronews linked the Homs countryside blast to the broader danger of landmines and war remnants, saying they are the biggest obstacle to residents returning to their areas due to the lack of precise maps and a shortage of resources needed to remove them.

The outlet cited the Syrian Network for Human Rights documentation of “at least 3,799 civilians in Syria,” including “1,000 children and 377 women,” due to landmine explosions and cluster munition remnants from March 2011 to April 2026.
Euronews added that the network noted 329 civilians killed, including 65 children and 29 women, since the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime on December 8, 2024, up to the report’s publication date, amid a rise in mine-related incidents concurrent with the return of the displaced and the resumption of agricultural activities.
In the immediate aftermath of the Tadmur-area blast, Euronews said security forces set up a security cordon and launched investigations to determine the circumstances of the explosion and identify the bomb’s source and how it reached the bag.
Separately, جريدة القدس said local sources reported an explosion in a scrap-collection cart in the city of Palmyra killed one person instantly and injured two others who were transported for treatment, while it noted that no official or detailed statements had been released clarifying whether the incident was caused by remnants of old warfare or deliberate targeting.
