Panettiere Dies at 36
Actress Hayden Panettiere has died at 36, with her representative confirming the death to ABC News and CNN.
“It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of our beloved Hayden”
ABC News reported that her father, Skip Panettiere, said in a statement, "It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of our beloved Hayden."

CNN likewise quoted Skip Panettiere saying, "She was an incredible light and a force of nature who brought immeasurable love and joy" to everyone who knew her.
The cause of death was not immediately available, and CNN said the circumstances surrounding her death are unknown.
Roles and Personal Struggles
Panettiere was known for playing Claire Bennet on "Heroes" and Juliette Barnes on "Nashville," roles that ABC News and CNN both highlighted as central to her career.
ABC News noted that she was nominated for a Golden Globe in 2012 for "Nashville," and CNN described her as the actress who portrayed the cheerleader who could heal herself, Claire Bennet, on "Heroes."

In 2022, Panettiere told People about her struggles, saying, "I didn't know where the alcoholism was ending and the postpartum was beginning," and ABC News quoted her describing how she "ran myself pretty ragged."
CNN also reported that she told People in 2022, "I could identify with many of those stories, such as alcoholism and postpartum depression. They hit very close to home for me," and it said she had published memoirs titled "This Is Me: A Reckoning."
Family, Memoir, and Legacy
Panettiere was the mother of a 12-year-old daughter, Kaya, and ABC reported she had her with her ex-boyfriend, former Ukrainian boxer Vladimir Klichko, while CNN said she shared an 11-year-old daughter, Kaya, with Wladimir Klitschko.
“as our family takes time to process this unimaginable loss”
ABC News said her father asked for privacy "as our family takes time to process this unimaginable loss," and it also noted that Panettiere’s death comes less than a week before she would have turned 37 on Friday.
People reported that Panettiere died on Sunday, Aug. 16, and it said her birth date was Aug. 21, 1989.
The Guardian added that Panettiere gave full custody to Klitschko in 2018 to focus on recovering from what she called a "horrible cycle for years of battling depression and anxiety and alcoholism and substance abuse," and it said she entered rehab in 2015 while filming "Nashville."
