IRGC promises stronger response

Brigadier General Hossein Mohebi said Iran has achieved more advanced weapons after a 40-day war and that Iran is fully prepared to respond to any potential aggression with greater force than before. Mohebi warned that the consequences for the United States would be "more painful" and said the possibility of a new war remains because the Trump administration needs an achievement ahead of the midterm elections.

“Iran is prepared to respond to any renewed aggression with greater force than before, and the consequences of such an action for the United States would be ‘more painful.’”

Mohebi dismissed US officials’ statements about gaps and a lack of cooperation among Iranian officials as "completely false," and he said the claims are made to justify Washington's failures in the war waged against Iran. Mohebi also lashed out at media coverage, saying Americans are being kept from understanding the realities of their country’s military campaigns because mainstream media actively conceal the truth about such brutal acts of aggression.

Deterrence and modernization plans

Mehrdad Akhlaqi, described as a defense minister nominee, presented defense modernization plans to Iran’s Parliament that aimed to accelerate modernization of the armed forces and expand domestic weapons production. Akhlaqi outlined six-month and 22-month implementation programs and emphasized deterrence and preparedness amid continued tensions with the United States and Israel.

IRGC Commander Major General Ahmad Vahidi stressed the strategic importance of maintaining Iran’s defense production chains and expanding cooperation between the Armed Forces’ operational and industrial sectors. Akhlaqi said the Defense Ministry would continue existing programs with appropriate revisions while introducing six-month and 22-month implementation frameworks to advance its objectives.

Strait of Hormuz threat

IRGC Navy Commander Rear Admiral Ali Ozmaei challenged US forces to approach the waterway if Washington believed the Strait of Hormuz was open and secure.

Ozmaei said, "If the Americans think the Strait of Hormuz is open, let them come closer. We are impatient to sink American warships," and he described a US warship worth $13 billion as having been rendered ineffective and moved approximately 700 kilometers away from the strait.

Ozmaei said, "We are waiting for US warships to approach the entrance to the Strait of Hormuz so we can sink them," linking the threat to the approach of US warships.

WANA News Agency reported that Mohebi said the possibility of renewed aggression remained real because the Trump administration needed an achievement ahead of the US midterm elections.
