Drone strikes hit Erbil
Iranian media reported a drone attack that struck a U.S. base at Erbil airport, with the attack described as occurring about 8 hours ago.

The Rudaw24 report said the director of Erbil International Airport in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq announced a temporary suspension of takeoffs and landings after a wave of attacks targeted the city of Erbil and its airspace.
Rudaw24 added that flights would resume once the security situation stabilized and normalcy returned, after earlier reports that several drones struck the American base at Erbil Airport.
Jamaran, citing Rudaw News Agency of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, also said several drones struck the American base at Erbil Airport, while Al Arabiya TV reported that the sound of an explosion was heard when the drone struck in Erbil.
Bahrain sirens and shelter
Multiple outlets tied the Erbil attack to another reported strike on a U.S. military base in Bahrain, with Jamaran saying the drone attack also hit the base housing American troops.
Jamaran reported that as a result of the drone attack on the American troops’ base in Bahrain, sirens in the country were sounded, and Bahrain’s Ministry of Interior asked citizens and residents to shelter in the nearest safe place.
An additional report said Turkey’s Anadolu Agency also reported that for the third time since predawn Tuesday, danger sirens sounded in Bahrain, and Bahrain’s Ministry of Interior urged residents to go to the nearest safe place.
The reports also stated that media had not yet published further details about these attacks, while Arab media reported several explosions near the U.S. consulate in Erbil.
Flights resume amid escalation
After a temporary suspension, Iraqi authorities announced the resumption of flights to and from Erbil International Airport, with the Iraqi News Agency (WAA) reporting that the airport had resumed operating its flights.

The same account said local media outlets, including the Shafaq News website, reported that air defense systems in Erbil successfully intercepted four drones targeting the city’s American Consulate.
The report further described a wider escalation, stating that Iran is launching attacks on camps of the Iranian Kurdish opposition groups in Erbil and Sulaymaniyah and is also targeting the U.S. military base and the U.S. Consulate General in Erbil.
It also said the United States launched a series of strikes on sites inside Iran, and that on July 8 Trump announced the end of the ceasefire after Washington accused Tehran of standing behind attacks on vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.
