No foothold on islands

Iran’s Army spokesman Brigadier General Akraminia warned that the US enemy should “think twice” before considering a ground invasion, saying Iranian armed forces “will not allow the enemy's troops to gain a foothold on the Iranian islands in Persian Gulf.”

Akraminia said Iran has “already developed comprehensive defense scenarios and operational plans” and that contingency plans have been prepared for sparsely populated areas, including certain islands and coastal regions the US military may seek to infiltrate.

He added that “Through numerous military exercises, we have trained to target these areas and destroy the enemy without even allowing it an initial foothold.”

Akraminia also warned that any area used by the enemy to launch attacks against Iran would be targeted, “even if it were temporarily occupied by hostile forces on Iranian territory.”

New equipment and readiness

In a separate interview, Brigadier General Mohammad Akrami Niya said new anti-aircraft equipment has entered combat service and “significantly enhanced our defensive capabilities.”

He framed the moment as “a historically sensitive moment,” saying the performance of the Iranian people, the armed forces, the army, and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps will “guarantee and reinforces the strong standing of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the region and the world for decades to come.”

Niya also reiterated Iran’s position on nuclear weapons, saying, “We have reiterated, clearly and repeatedly, that we have never sought to possess nuclear weapons.”

He argued that the army had been prepared for confrontation for years, pointing to “regular, ongoing, and impressive military exercises” and saying the effects are evident in the ability to respond “in less than two hours” during the enemy’s war that it began on February 28.

Threats, escalation, and response

PressTV reported that last week US President Donald Trump threatened to escalate the war by targeting Iran's energy infrastructure and bridges and by deploying ground forces to seize Kharg Island, home to one of the country's main oil export terminals.

Akraminia said Iran’s armed forces “will respond decisively regardless of where the attacks originate,” and he described a shift from standoff warfare to ground combat as “a face-to-face battle.”

He argued that in ground combat “the enemy's unfamiliarity with the terrain and the loss of its technological advantage will greatly increase its vulnerability,” while also saying Iran has spent the past two decades preparing “for a confrontation with the American and Zionist enemy.”

Akraminia warned neighboring Persian Gulf states against supporting the US aggression, saying countries involved in the military campaign against Iran could face consequences in the Strait of Hormuz, which he said remains under the control of Iran's armed forces.
