WAFA added that occupation authorities approved the plan serving as the planning basis for the tender on April 27, 2025, covering an area of 253.7 dunums.

The commission said the tender comes about 15 months after that approval, moving the project from planning and approval to marketing and implementation stages.

WAFA said the project is located between northern Jerusalem and the city of Ramallah and Al-Bireh within a settlement bloc administered under the name “Binyamin.”

Raids and injuries

Demócrata said a new series of assaults by settlers and Israeli security forces injured more than 20 Palestinians across various towns in the West Bank, with the gravest episode in Wad al Rajim in the southern Hebron area.

Demócrata reported that eleven Palestinians were injured there, one by live ammunition, during an attack by settlers, citing local organizations and the Palestinian official news agency Wafa and the Palestinian Safa agency.

In Tubas, Demócrata said another 15 Palestinians required medical assistance after inhaling tear gas fired by the Israeli Army, according to a report by the Palestinian Red Crescent Society.

Europa Press similarly described the wave of assaults as involving gunfire, beatings, or the inhalation of tear gas in several towns across the West Bank, and it placed the most serious incident in Wad al-Rajim.

Europa Press also said the Barrier and Settlements Resistance Commission warned that Israel issued a call for bids to construct 627 new homes in settlements near Al-Bireh, with offers due by the end of next month.

Separation and next steps

The Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission said the 627-unit tender would “deepen the separation between Jerusalem and its Palestinian surroundings and the Ramallah and Al-Bireh governorates.”

WAFA said the tender reflects the integration of stages of colonial expansion, where planning approval grants regulatory status and tenders enable the allocation of construction plots and the involvement of development companies and contractors.

WAFA added that the units move from planning figures to a buildable residential project, increasing the colony’s capacity and reinforcing its demographic and urban presence.

During the first half of 2026, WAFA said the commission monitored the publication of 12 colonial tenders by occupation authorities, and it said those tenders included 1,138 colonial housing units ready for implementation.

WAFA said the 627 new units would expand the colony’s urban footprint and strengthen its links with the surrounding network of colonies and roads, placing further pressure on Palestinian geography.
