Southern Lebanon hit
Israeli airstrikes hit Nabatieh al-Fawqa as explosions rocked Al-Mansouri and Houla, while Israeli artillery shelled the area surrounding Al-Dabsha and Wadi al-Salouqi, according to Al-Manar correspondent reports. Israeli warplanes struck the outskirts of Al-Mansouri in the Tyre district, and Israeli forces carried out a series of explosions in the town that caused tremors heard in Tyre city and nearby villages, according to Lebanon’s official National News Agency (NNA) as cited by Anadolu Ajansı. Israeli forces also mined several homes in Al-Mansouri before detonating them, and Israeli aircraft launched an airstrike on the outskirts of Zawtar al-Sharqiyah and another near the Scout City area, according to NNA reporting carried by Anadolu Ajansı.
Israeli artillery fire intermittently hit the Ali al-Taher heights on the outskirts of Nabatieh al-Fawqa, and an Israeli drone was seen flying at low altitude over the Zahrani area in the Sidon district, according to Anadolu Ajansı’s account of NNA reporting. The agency did not immediately report any deaths or injuries resulting from the Israeli attacks.

Ceasefire and claims
Lebanon’s Prime Minister Nawaf Salam demanded an end to the Israeli occupation of southern Lebanon and the full enforcement of the ceasefire, as he spoke at the United Nations General Assembly in New York, according to Al Jazeera. ASalam told the UN that “We want the war to end and we want the ceasefire [with Israel] consolidated,” while Al Jazeera’s Zeina Khodr reported from Froun that Israeli artillery shelling was still causing uncontrollable fires and that Lebanese civil defence and firefighters were not being allowed to reach the areas. AMore than 60 towns in southern Lebanon are still occupied by the Israeli army, and Israeli forces were “blowing up people’s homes, despite the framework agreement in which there is supposed to be a ceasefire.”
A June 26 “Framework Formula” signed in Washington called for a gradual Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territory and the deployment of the Lebanese army in areas from which Israeli forces withdraw, while Israeli attacks continued. Lebanese authorities put the toll since March 2 at “at least 4,386 people” killed and “12,413” injured, and displacement of more than a million people.

Humanitarian and recovery stakes
Prime Minister Nawaf Salam told the UN General Assembly that the war has left a “vast humanitarian crisis” in Lebanon and appealed for international help to fund recovery, according to Arab News. Salam said, “The reconstruction of the south isn’t merely the rebuilding of stone, it’s the rebuilding of people’s lives, the restoration of their livelihoods,” and he added that continued funding was needed to meet basic needs of those affected, particularly the displaced. The UN estimates that more than 300,000 people remain displaced by the fighting, and the conflict has caused extensive destruction to housing, public facilities, infrastructure and productive sectors.
The scheduled winding down of the UN Interim Force in Lebanon at the end of the year could create a vacuum unless an alternative is put in place. Al-Manar TV Lebanon framed the situation as part of a wider escalation, saying an explosion was heard from the direction of the Strait of Hormuz on Qeshm Island, southern Iran, in reports tied to “Israeli Enemy Launch Wave of Attacks Across Southern Lebanon.”A
