Strikes Near Hospitals

Israeli strikes in Gaza on Saturday killed two Palestinians in the Sheikh Radwan area of Gaza City, and a military spokesperson said the targeted were Hamas militants while declining to provide further details.

In Deir al-Balah in southern Gaza, an Israeli air strike destroyed two warehouses used to store medicine by the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, and Palestinian health ministry officials said the hospital’s outpatient clinic and the warehouses were damaged.

Reuters footage of the Deir al-Balah strike showed a crater several metres wide, with debris strewn across the area including what appeared to be medical supplies close to a densely packed tent encampment.

Khalil al-Daqran, a doctor at the hospital, said, "In the middle of the night, (the military) targeted a warehouse containing medical supplies for the hospital, and the occupation completely destroyed it," while witnesses said the military issued an evacuation warning for the area before carrying out the strike.

Deal, Disarmament, Dispute

The strikes unfolded amid uncertainty over whether Israel has accepted a deal reached with Hamas over the group’s disarmament, with US President Donald Trump saying on Thursday there had been a breakthrough in his plan to end the war.

Trump said that Hamas had agreed to lay down its weapons, while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had not commented publicly and National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir called the agreement unacceptable.

In a separate account, Al Jazeera said Israeli strikes killed at least seven Palestinians across Gaza, including a drone attack in Gaza City’s Sheikh Radwan neighbourhood and a strike on al-Thalatini Street in Gaza City.A

Al Jazeera also reported that an overnight strike destroyed medicine warehouses attached to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir el-Balah, quoting Munir al-Bursh as saying, "When the occupation fights people by destroying medicines and preventing medicine from entering, it turns medicine and illness itself into a tool of war."A

Health System at Risk

Palestinian health officials and hospital staff described the warehouse attacks as damaging supplies used for dialysis and intensive care, with the hospital saying the warehouses stored essential medical supplies used to treat kidney failure patients undergoing dialysis.

The Financial Express said Israel’s military continued strikes on Gaza after agreeing last October to a US-mediated ceasefire, killing 1,222 Palestinians in the past nine months, while Palestinian health officials said many of those killed were women and children.

Al Jazeera further said the overall death toll since October 2023 was 73,349, and that the toll since the ceasefire began was 1,222 killed, as Gaza’s Civil Defence reported recovering remains from a home in Gaza City’s Sabra area destroyed by Israeli forces roughly two weeks ago.A
